Planning a trip with spotty data and thinking about bringing the Enence. Does the offline mode actually do two-way SpanishEnglish convos or is it basically just short phrases and single words? Read that offline is limited but not sure how usable it is in real chats. I don’t want to rely on phone roaming.

I think offline handles short back-and-forths in Spanish/English okay, but it struggles with longer sentences and heavier accents. Felt fine for quick exchanges, not like a smooth conversational flow. I’m a bit skeptical of the “full two-way offline” angle. Not totally sure though.

Speaker is loud enough for noisy spots and the thing is tiny so you actually carry it. Maybe offline has limits, but the convenience won me over.

Thanks all, I think I’ll bring the Enence for quick exchanges and not expect it to handle long conversations. Maybe it behaves better in real use, I’ll see and report back.

Nah, I think it handles real back and forth fine for basic convos. Used mine in a market overseas and got through ordering and asking directions without pulling my phone out. Not perfect but way less hassle than roaming.

Offline is decent for simple back and forth, but I prefer keeping a small phrasebook for backup. Less fiddling around with the device when you’re trying to order quickly.

Offline mode works fine for basic back and forth in my experience, just don’t expect it to handle super long sentences or slang perfectly. It’ll get you through ordering food and asking directions no problem. I’d still keep a phrasebook handy for anything more complicated though.

I’ve used mine in a few spots with no signal and it handled basic back and forth just fine. Not gonna win any awards for complex convos but for ordering food or asking directions it does the job.

Alright, thanks for the replies everyone. Sounds like it’ll do the job for basic chats, which is pretty much all I need anyway. I’ll probably just throw it in the bag and see how it goes.

I’m kind of in the same boat, wondering how much you can really lean on it offline. It seems like it works for short exchanges but I wouldn’t bet on it handling a whole real conversation smoothly.
