I’m thinking about getting the BareEarth Grounding Mat for under my desk, but I have hardwood floors and I’m wondering if the non-slip backing actually works on that surface. Anyone using it on hardwood without it sliding around?

I’ve had mine on a hardwood floor for a few months now and it hasn’t moved around much. I was a little worried at first because my chair rolls over the edge sometimes, but the backing seems to grip okay. It does shift a tiny bit if I really drag my feet across it on purpose, but during normal sitting it stays put fine.

One thing I noticed is that it helps to make sure the floor is clean underneath. Dust or little crumbs seem to make it slide more, so I just sweep that spot occasionally.

I can’t say how it would hold up on a really glossy or freshly polished floor, but on my regular hardwood it’s been fine. I don’t think about it anymore, which is probably the best sign.

Mine has been on hardwood for a while and honestly I don’t even think about it anymore. It just stays where I put it, even when I’m shifting around a lot. I wasn’t expecting much from the backing but it’s done the job fine for me.

The non-slip backing held up fine on my hardwood floors. I actually think people overestimate how much sliding a mat under a desk actually does. As long as you’re not doing dance moves in your chair, it stays put.

I found the non-slip backing is fine on hardwood, but the bigger issue is that dust and crumbs get under it over time and make it shift a bit. A quick sweep under it every couple weeks fixes that. Other than that it stays put during normal use.

I’ll be honest, I almost didn’t buy it because I figured the backing would be useless on my hardwood. I’d had cheaper yoga mats and stuff slide around constantly so I just assumed this would be the same. But after having it for a few weeks now, I’m kind of surprised at how little I think about it. It doesn’t slide when I move my feet around, and honestly my chair wheels have bumped it a few times and it didn’t really budge.

The thing that actually changed my mind was realizing I don’t need it to be locked in place like glue. It just needs to sit there and not be annoying. And it does that. I do have to be careful when I first put it down because if you slide it across the floor it can kind of gather a little static or whatever and shift, but once it’s down it stays down. I also noticed that it’s not like a rubber mat that sticks to everything, it’s more of a grippy fabric feel, so it works fine on the wood but it’s not a suction cup situation.

I was one of those people who almost didn’t get it because of the floor thing, and now I’m glad I didn’t overthink it. I don’t even really notice it until I step on it with bare feet.

I don’t use mine on the floor at all honestly. I keep it on my couch for when I’m lounging around watching stuff, it just works better for how I actually sit. The backing on that fabric is fine for me but I never tested it on hardwood since that’s not my setup.

I’ve had mine on hardwood for about six months now. It doesn’t slide during normal use, but if I drag my chair over it by accident it does bunch up a little. Not a dealbreaker, just something to be aware of if you move your chair around a lot.
