I’ve had a StopWatt plugged in near my breaker box for a few weeks now, and I think I’ve noticed my kitchen lights flickering less than before. But I’m not sure if it’s actually doing anything or if I’m just looking for changes. Anyone else see a difference like that?

I kind of wonder if it’s just the placebo effect, but I guess if the lights are bugging you less, that’s a win either way.

I’ve had mine for about a month and honestly, my old TV used to flicker when the AC kicked on and that’s stopped. Could be a coincidence but I’m not complaining.

I think the flickering thing is probably more about your brain wanting to see a change than the device actually doing much. Those lights are usually just reacting to stuff like your fridge or AC kicking on, and a plug-in box isn’t going to rewire your whole house. But if it makes you feel better and you’re not out a ton of money, it’s not really hurting anything either.

I’ve had mine for maybe a month and I honestly didn’t notice any flickering before, but my partner said the bathroom light seems steadier now. I’m not convinced it’s doing anything huge, but I’m not annoyed enough to unplug it either.

I’d say it’s probably doing something, but not for the reason most people think. I noticed a similar thing with a dimmer switch in my living room that used to buzz a little, and after plugging one of these in, it just stopped. Could be the surge filtering cleaning up whatever noise was going on. Either way, if the lights look better to you, that’s all that really matters.

Honestly, flickering lights can be caused by so many random things it’s hard to pin it on one device. I’d probably give it another week or two before I decided if it was real or just my brain looking for a change.

I’m not sure if it’s the StopWatt or just a coincidence, but my garage light doesn’t flicker as much when the washer runs now. Could be anything, really.

Could be your brain playing tricks or maybe the thing actually does something. Hard to tell.

I’d bet the flickering thing is just coincidence. Those lights are usually just reacting to whatever the washer or fridge is doing at that moment.

I noticed mine seems to take the edge off when the AC kicks on, lights used to dip a little and now they don’t as much. Could be placebo, but I’m not messing with it.

I noticed the same thing with a little desk lamp in my office that used to flicker whenever I turned on a fan in the next room. It’s been a lot steadier since I plugged one of these in. Could be something, could be nothing, but I’m not complaining.

I’ve been reading through this and honestly, I think it’s one of those things where you just notice it less after a while, whether the device is doing anything or not. My lights haven’t been acting up much lately either, but I’m not totally convinced it’s not just the weather or something. Either way, I’m not bothered enough to unplug it.
