I keep seeing people say you should treat your car windows with rain repellent so dirt doesn’t stick as much. I tried a quick spray on my side windows a few weeks ago and honestly I’m not sure if it did anything. Maybe I didn’t apply it right or something. Does it really help or is it just a gimmick for keeping them clean longer?

I tried it once on my windshield and honestly couldn’t tell if it made cleaning easier or not. Felt like the dirt just moved around differently. Probably not worth the extra effort for me.

I gave it a shot on my windshield once and wasn’t really impressed. Maybe I just didn’t care enough to notice a difference.

Honestly I think it helps a little but not as much as people make it sound. Water beads off fine but the dirt still builds up eventually.

I think part of it depends on what kind of dirt you’re dealing with. I’ve noticed it helps a bit with bug splatters if you get to them fast, but for general grime buildup it’s pretty subtle. Probably not worth going out of your way for unless you already have a bottle lying around. I mostly just use it for the rain beading effect on the highway, the cleaning part is just a bonus.

Honestly I think it does help a little but people oversell it. It’s not magic or anything, dirt still builds up eventually. I just find it makes hosing off the windows a bit quicker for me.

I’m actually pretty happy with it. Rain-X isn’t going to keep your windows spotless forever, but I find it makes the initial rinse way quicker when I do wash the car. Less scrubbing for me.

I tried it once and it seemed fine but nothing life changing. I wouldn’t bother reapplying or anything, just a quick wipe down does the same job for me.

I used it on my truck a while back and it seemed fine. Not a huge difference but I didn’t really mind it either.

I think it probably depends on the dirt. For basic dust and light grime it might help a bit, but I’m not totally sure it’s worth the effort.

I think it makes a small difference but nothing dramatic. I mainly like how water beads up and rolls off when it rains, feels like it keeps the window a bit clearer during a downpour. For cleaning, maybe it helps a little but I wouldn’t rely on it.

I think a lot of it comes down to how you apply it. If you just spray it on and wipe it off quickly it probably won’t do much. You have to let it haze over a bit before buffing it off.

I think it probably helps more if you’re the type who goes a while between washes. I just do a quick wipe down when I fill up gas and that seems to be enough for me.

I’ve had decent luck with it, but I think you really have to buff it in properly or it just sits on the glass and doesn’t do much. Water beads off nice once it’s on right though.

Yeah, that makes sense. I think I probably didn’t buff it in well enough, so I’ll give it another shot sometime but I’m not gonna stress over it. Thanks for the input everyone.
