MemberI have an old plug-in CO alarm that only lights up when there’s a problem, so I’m looking at the CarbonOne Safe since it has a digital screen. Does the display show the numbers constantly or does it dim or shut off after a while? Just wondering if it would be annoying in a bedroom at night.

Tom BillMemberI think it stays on all the time, yeah. That’s kind of the point of having a digital screen. Might be a bit bright in a dark bedroom but you could probably just face it away from the bed or something.

Tom BriggsMemberIt stays on all the time. I have one in my hallway and the numbers are always there. Might be a little bright for a bedroom at night if you’re sensitive to that.

MemberI’ve got mine in the living room and the display is definitely always on. It’s not super bright, but in a pitch-black bedroom I can see how it might bug you. Maybe you could point it away from the bed or put something over it at night if it ends up being too much.

MemberOh I’ve wondered the same thing honestly. The display on mine is definitely always on, but it’s not super bright or anything. I have it in a hallway and it’s fine, but I could see it being a little distracting in a dark bedroom.

MemberI think it depends on what you consider annoying. I’ve seen one in person and the screen is always on, but it’s not super bright or anything. For me, it would probably be fine in a bedroom unless you’re really sensitive to any light at all.

MemberI wouldn’t worry too much about it being annoying. The screen is pretty dim compared to a phone or alarm clock, so it’s not going to light up the whole room. I barely notice mine at night.

MemberI wouldn’t worry too much about the brightness, it’s pretty low-key. If you’re really sensitive to light while sleeping you could always just face it away from the bed.

PixelKevinMemberMy CarbonOne Safe screen stays on 24/7 with the numbers lit up. It’s not super bright, more like a dim digital clock, but if you’re sensitive to light in a bedroom it could be a minor annoyance. I just turned mine slightly away from the bed and it’s fine.

northshoreParticipantCan’t say for sure about the CarbonOne, but most of those digital screens stay on constantly. Probably not bright enough to be a problem unless you’re really sensitive to light.

Ben KerrMemberI get the concern about a bright screen in a bedroom. From what I’ve seen, the display is always on but it’s pretty dim, more like a faint digital clock than a glaring light. Shouldn’t be an issue unless you’re really sensitive to any light.

Tom in NYCMemberHonestly, I’ve got one and the screen is always on, but it’s not some blinding light. It’s more like a dim clock display, barely noticeable unless you’re staring right at it. Wouldn’t lose sleep over it.

MemberAlright, thanks for the replies. Sounds like the screen is always on but dim enough, so I’ll just grab one and see how it goes in the bedroom.
