I’m looking at the Qinux BreezaMax as a bedside fan, but my nightstand is a bit narrow. Does it feel stable enough on a flat surface, or does it wobble if you bump it? I haven’t bought one yet and just want to make sure it won’t be a hazard with my cat around.

I had mine on a pretty small shelf for a while and it was fine. The base is wider than you’d think from the pictures, so it didn’t feel like it was going anywhere unless I really knocked into it. My cat has bumped it a few times and it stayed put.

Mine has been sitting on a narrow dresser for a couple of weeks now and it hasn’t moved even when I’ve bumped it reaching for my glasses. The base is pretty spread out for such a small thing. I would say it’s fine unless your cat actively jumps on top of it, but the bladeless part means they probably won’t even care about it.

Had mine on a nightstand for about two weeks now. The base is heavier than the rest of the unit, which helps. My cat has jumped onto the nightstand a few times and the fan shifted a little but didn’t tip. That said, it’s not bolted down or anything. If your cat is the type to body slam things at full speed, no fan is safe.

The bigger issue for me is the footprint. It’s not huge, but it’s not as slim as the photos make it look. If your nightstand is genuinely narrow, measure it first. Mine is a standard size and it fits fine with room for a glass and my phone.

I wouldn’t call it a hazard, but I also wouldn’t trust it on something really small or uneven. Flat surface, decent width, you’re probably okay.

You’re getting a lot of “mine was fine” answers, but mine wasn’t. I had it on a nightstand for about a week and the cat brushing against it was enough to knock it over twice. The base is wide but it’s light, so it doesn’t take much. The second time it hit the floor it stopped oscillating properly.

If your cat is the type to jump up on furniture or squeeze behind things, I would not trust this thing on a narrow surface. It’s fine on a desk or a proper table where nothing is going to bump it, but bedside with a pet around is a different story. I moved mine to a shelf after that and it’s been fine, but I wouldn’t have bought it for the nightstand if I’d known. Just something to think about before you order.

I wouldn’t lose sleep over it. I’ve got one on a small table next to my bed and it’s been fine. The base is wider and heavier than the pictures make it look. I’ve knocked it a few times reaching for my phone in the middle of the night and it didn’t so much as shift.

The cat thing is the real test though. Mine likes to rub against things and I was half expecting to hear it crash one night. Hasn’t happened. The weight sits low enough that it doesn’t act like one of those cheap tower fans that goes over if you look at them wrong.

I’d say the bigger concern is making sure your nightstand isn’t completely uneven. Mine has one slightly shorter leg and I still haven’t had an issue. If your cat is the type that full on launches onto surfaces, that might be different, but for normal cat behavior it should hold up.

If the nightstand is really narrow, I would just check where the heaviest part of the fan sits. Mine is on a fairly tight shelf and the weight is low enough that a light bump doesn’t do anything. I wouldn’t trust it right on the edge, but a few inches back and it feels solid.

I’m not going to lie, my first thought was the same with my cat. I keep mine on a narrow shelf and it’s never been an issue. The base is wide enough that it doesn’t feel like a light bump is going to send it flying.

I had mine on a pretty small side table for a few weeks and it never gave me any trouble. The bottom part is where most of the weight is, so it doesn’t feel top heavy at all. I accidentally bumped it a couple times when reaching for my phone in the middle of the night and it just kind of shifted a little instead of tipping.

The cat thing is a different story though. My friend’s cat knocked mine off the table once when she was housesitting, but that was a full on jump onto the table, not just brushing past it. I think for normal cat behavior like rubbing against it or sniffing it, you’d probably be okay. The surface material of your nightstand matters too, if it’s super smooth and polished, that could change things. Mine is on a slightly textured wood surface so that might be helping.

I’d probably test it before committing if you can, but based on how mine sits, I wouldn’t expect a tipping problem. The base is wider than the actual fan part, which helps a lot on uneven surfaces. I have mine on a nightstand that’s maybe a few inches wider than the fan itself and it’s been solid for a couple of months now.

The real thing to watch is whether your nightstand is perfectly level. Mine has a slight slope and I noticed it wanted to shift forward a tiny bit on high speed, but it never actually tipped. I just turned it so the oscillation didn’t push it toward the edge and that solved it.

As for cats, mine has knocked into it a few times and it stayed put. It’s not heavy, but the weight is low enough that it doesn’t act like a tower fan that catches air and falls over. I’d say if your nightstand is reasonably flat and not tiny, you’re fine.

I’d probably just put it on the floor next to the bed if the nightstand is that narrow. That way the cat can bump into it all she wants and you don’t have to think about it. It’s light enough to move around anyway.
