MemberHey everyone, quick question before I decide on the Blink Outdoor. I’ve read the battery is supposed to last up to 2 years, but is that realistic if you get a few motion alerts a day? Just wondering what people typically see in real life.

Mike in TXMemberI’d take the 2 year claim with a grain of salt. Mine’s been up for about 8 months with maybe 5 or 6 alerts a day and I’m already down to half battery. Still works fine though, just don’t expect it to hit that max number.

L_ParkerMemberHonestly, I’m not totally sure about that two year claim. I’ve had mine for about 10 months with maybe 3-4 alerts a day and the battery still shows full in the app. But I barely use live view, so maybe that’s why.

Noah KentMemberDifferent experience here. I had mine for about 8 months with maybe 2-3 alerts a day and it died on me. Wouldn’t count on that two year thing. I’d just go in expecting to swap batteries once a year if you actually use it.

EliMemberIt’s probably fine. I get a handful of alerts most days and mine have been going for over a year without changing them. I wouldn’t overthink it.

Carla82MemberMine’s been going about 10 months now with maybe 5-6 alerts a day and still shows half battery. I’d take the 2 year claim with a grain of salt, but it’s not bad for what it is.

AnnaKParticipantI get about 8-9 months on mine with moderate use and it’s still going fine. Two years sounds like a stretch but honestly it lasts long enough that I don’t think about it.

LiamWParticipantPeople throw around that 2 year number but it really depends. I wouldn’t bank on it if you’re getting several alerts every day.

EthanFreeMemberI’ve had mine for about 6 months and it’s still on the original batteries with a few alerts a day. Seems fine to me, not really something I worry about.

MemberI mean, I’d probably just assume half that number and be pleasantly surprised if it lasts longer. The whole “up to 2 years” thing always depends on how often it actually triggers, so a few alerts a day is gonna eat into that. I wouldn’t plan your life around the max estimate.

SarahMParticipantI’ve had mine for about a year now with moderate motion and it’s still going strong. I wouldn’t stress too much about the 2 year claim.

MemberI get about a year on mine with normal use. Two years feels optimistic but honestly it’s not a dealbreaker.
