Picked up a Flixy stick to make an old TV smart. Works fine for Netflix and YouTube but I get the occasional stutter when switching apps. Remote is basic and setup was quick. Curious if others see frequent updates or app compatibility issues.

Picked one up a few months ago to make an old set usable. I get the little stutters when switching apps and the remote feels cheap, updates pop up annoyingly often. Apps mostly work but one disappeared after an update and I was stuck for a bit. Would like longer term reports before I buy another for the bedroom.

Updates bug me too, but on mine they usually just restart the stick and apps come back after a reboot. The remote is lousy so I rely on the phone app for typing. Makes an old TV usable, nothing more.

I haven’t seen constant updates like some people, only a couple in six months, so maybe it’s hit or miss. The remote is cheap but usable for simple stuff, I don’t mind it. One app did disappear after an update here too, which annoyed me.

Looks like an easy, cheap way to make an old set useful, though long-term app support is the real question. If you plan to hide the stick behind the TV, check whether the TV’s USB keeps power on, since some sticks won’t boot if the port cuts out. Also consider whether you want to use the tiny remote for typing or rely on a phone app for convenience.

Picked one up for the kitchen TV and it’s been great for background shows, no drama so far. Remote is tiny and meh but I barely touch it.

I’ve had a Flixy on my guest room TV for a few months, cheap and makes the old set useful. I do notice a little lag or stutter switching between apps sometimes, maybe network or the stick reloading itself. It also gets a bit warm tucked behind the TV, but overall I’d keep it for casual watching, not totally sure about long term app support.

Mine’s been on a guest TV for about a month and I only got one firmware update the first week. The usual apps I use still work fine, though the available app selection is smaller than a Roku or Fire. Has anyone had an app stop working after an update?

Mine got two firmware updates in the first month and then nothing after that. The apps I use still work fine.

Not sure I’d worry too much about the updates thing. Mine got a couple early on and then nothing, but everything still runs fine.

The stutter when switching apps happens on mine too, but it’s not constant. I think that’s just how these cheap sticks run.

Yeah it stutters a bit but honestly I barely notice it anymore. Updates come through now and then, never had an app not work on mine.

Mine’s been fine for the most part, but I think the stutter is just how it handles things sometimes. I haven’t seen any app issues, but I mainly just use it for Netflix.

Pretty much what I figured. It’s a cheap stick for an old TV, so a little stutter here and there doesn’t surprise me. Works well enough for what it costs. I’ll keep using it.

It’s been fine for me, no real complaints. I just use it for streaming and it does the job without much fuss.
