Tagsley wallet placement and Find My accuracy?

Mine lives in a backpack side pocket most of the time, not even a wallet, and honestly the accuracy is all over the place. Sometimes it shows the right building, sometimes it thinks I left it at a coffee shop three blocks away. I’ve learned to treat it more like a “last known area” thing than a precise dot on a map.

The one time I actually needed it, my bag was in a friend’s car and Find My showed it at their house, which was close enough to figure it out. But if you’re expecting to be like, “oh it’s under the seat on the left side,” that’s not really how it works. It’s more of a neighborhood-level location for me.

For a wallet specifically, I’d just keep your expectations low. If it’s buried in a purse or a jacket pocket, the ping can lag pretty noticeably. It’s fine for knowing you left it somewhere, but not for pinpointing the exact shelf it’s sitting on. I’d still grab one if you misplace things often, just don’t rely on it being super precise.

I was pretty skeptical about these card trackers when they first showed up, mainly because I figured a thin card stuffed between other cards would kill the signal. Honestly, my expectations were low. But after a few weeks of carrying one around, I’ve changed my mind a bit.

The key thing I realized is that you can’t treat it like an AirTag sitting on a table. If your wallet is buried deep in a backpack or a coat pocket, the ping is going to be slower and less precise. That’s just physics. But for the everyday “did I leave it at the gym” or “is it in the car” moments, it’s been way more reliable than I thought. It usually shows the right general area, not the exact spot, but close enough that I stop panicking.

The bigger surprise for me was the left behind alert. I forgot my wallet on a bench once and got the notification before I even walked ten feet away. That alone made me look at the whole thing differently. I stopped expecting real-time tracking and started treating it as a smart safety net.

If you’re expecting live street-level location every few seconds, you’ll be disappointed. If you just want a solid “last seen” signal when you’re scrambling to find your stuff, it does the job. I don’t regret grabbing one.

I’d want it mainly for peace of mind, not for pinpoint precision.

The delay is usually not the problem for me, it’s more that the location can be a block or two off when it finally does update. If you’re picturing it guiding you to the exact couch cushion, you’ll be disappointed. It’s better for figuring out which building you left your stuff in.

The “buried in a bag” thing is where I start to tune out. I had mine in a backpack compartment and it took a solid ten minutes to finally show up, and it was still a street over from where I actually was. Find My is fine for a quick “is it in the car or the house” check, but don’t expect anything better than that.

It works okay for a broad area, but I would not call it accurate. I have had mine show the right building while the card was in a coat pocket, and other times it puts me a street over when it is in my car. Good enough for a general idea, not for finding the exact spot.

It’s not like a live GPS pin, but honestly mine lands close enough that I’ve never had trouble finding it.
