MemberBeen using DappSmile for a bit now, mostly on normal mode. Tried strong mode once on some stubborn tartar and it felt like a lot. Is strong mode meant for occasional use only, or can you use it regularly without wrecking your gums?

MemberStrong mode is for spot treatment, not a daily routine. I keep it for the rough patches that normal mode won’t touch, then switch right back. If you’re hitting your whole mouth with it every day, you’re asking for trouble. Your gums will let you know when you’ve overdone it.

MemberI think it depends on what you mean by regular. I have pretty sensitive gums and I learned the hard way that strong mode is not something I can use every day. But I also don’t think it needs to be saved for special occasions only. I use it maybe two or three times a week on specific spots where I can feel buildup starting, and then I switch back to soft mode for the rest of my routine. The vibration honestly felt scary the first few times, but my gums adjusted after a bit. What helped me was keeping the tip angled and not pressing hard at all. The moment I feel any pinch or sting, I back off. So I would say it is safe for regular use, just not as your default all over your mouth. It is more of a targeted tool than an everyday scrub.

MemberI think the vibration level is one thing, but how long you hold it in one spot matters way more. I ran strong mode along my gumline for a few days straight and my gums felt raw, so now I just use it for a couple seconds on the worst spots and move on.

JSmithParticipantStrong mode is fine if you’re not pressing hard. I’ve used it a few times a week for a couple months now and my gums haven’t gotten worse. The vibration isn’t the problem, it’s when you push the tip into the gum that you’re asking for trouble. Light touch and it’s fine.

Zoe MatthewsMemberI treat strong mode like a targeted tool, not the default. I only reach for it when I can actually see buildup that normal mode is just bouncing off of. The rest of the time I stick with normal and it keeps things feeling clean without that raw, overdone sensation afterward.

MemberStrong mode is fine daily if your technique is decent. I’ve been running it most days for a while now and my gums aren’t worse off. The trick is not jamming the tip into your gumline like you’re scraping paint. Light pressure and keep it moving and it’s no rougher than a normal cleaning.

Emma__LMemberI only use strong mode when I can feel the rough spots with my tongue and normal mode just isn’t cutting it. For me it’s more about the situation than a set schedule, and I switch back as soon as it feels done. I would not want it as my go-to every day, but I think it’s fine to use fairly often if you’re not overdoing it.

MemberI use strong mode pretty much every time now. I just don’t press the tip into my teeth like I’m scraping paint, I let the vibration do the work and keep it moving. My gums were a little pink the first couple days but they settled down once I got the hang of it.

MemberStrong mode is all I use now, my teeth feel way cleaner after.

RyanTParticipantStrong mode daily here, just don’t press the tip hard against anything.

MemberI think it comes down to how heavy your hand is. Strong mode is definitely more intense, but I wouldn’t call it a once-in-a-while thing. I use it most days now, but I keep the tip angled and don’t push it into my teeth like I’m chiseling something. The vibration does the work, not the pressure.
My gums were a bit sore the first couple of times, but that faded once I got the hang of it. If I’m flossing regularly and there’s no real buildup, I might drop back to normal mode just because it’s quicker and less noisy. But I don’t think strong mode is going to wreck anything if you’re not aggressive with it. The people who seem to have trouble are the ones pressing hard and dragging it around like a scraper. That’s not what it’s for.

LauTopMemberStrong mode is fine for me on the daily, but I keep the tip moving and don’t linger in one spot. I have noticed if I’m lazy and just hold it there, my gums feel raw the next day. So it’s more about paying attention than the mode itself for me.

Dani MoonMemberI would say strong mode is fine for daily use if you don’t get carried away with the pressure. Ive been using it every night for a couple weeks now and my gums are fine, but I also switch back to normal mode when stuff feels sensitive. Its really about paying attention to what your mouth is telling you.

MemberStrong mode is fine daily if your gums aren’t already sensitive. The issue is people treat it like a power tool and dig in. I’ve been using it every day for months and my gums are fine, but I also don’t jam the tip against my teeth like I’m chiseling concrete.

MemberThe strong mode definitely has a bite to it, that first time caught me off guard too. I’ve settled into using it most days now, but I treat it more like a quick tap and lift motion rather than scraping along the surface. My gums felt a little raw the first week, but once I got the hang of the angle it’s been fine.

MemberI’d probably play it safe and stick with normal mode most of the time, then use strong when you actually see or feel buildup that won’t budge. That first strong mode zap is no joke, but I don’t think it’s dangerous if you’re careful. Just pay attention to how your gums feel after, if they’re sore the next day you’ll know you overdid it.

Tom BriggsMemberIt’s the kind of thing you have to feel out. I’ve been using strong mode a few times a week for a while now and my gums haven’t complained. The trick is to not press hard and let the tip do the work. If you’re not waking up with sore gums the next day, you’re probably fine.
18 de August de 2026 at 07:40 #7383
Luis_A91MemberI use strong mode almost every night and my gums have been fine. The key is not pressing the tip hard against anything, just let the vibration do the work. If you’re leaning into it like a scraper, yeah, it’s gonna feel rough.
18 de August de 2026 at 08:47 #7387
no_sleepParticipantStrong mode is honestly the only reason I still bother with this thing. I’ve had mine for about three months now and I’ve basically been on strong the whole time, minus the first week where I was too scared to leave normal mode.
The vibration doesn’t bother me, but I get why it spooks people. It feels like the tool is doing way more than it actually is. What I noticed is that my gums only got irritated when I was pressing the tip into them like a scrub brush. Once I stopped doing that and just let the metal rest against the tooth, it was fine. I use it every other night after brushing, mostly on the back molars where coffee stains like to collect, and my gums are no angrier than when I was flossing aggressively.
That said, I don’t think strong mode is going to wreck your gums on its own. The bigger risk is that it makes you overconfident. You feel it vibrating and assume it’s scraping everything off, so you move it around faster and harder than you should. I caught myself doing that early on and had a sore spot for a day. That was my fault, not the device’s.
If you’re not already dealing with sensitive gums or receding areas, I’d say just use strong and pay attention to how hard you’re pushing. If your gums are already angry from something else, maybe stick to normal until they calm down. But for everyday maintenance, strong has been fine for me. The tartar that used to build up between cleanings is barely there now.
