Picked up a Qinux BittOne last week and been using it on commutes. Screen looks nice and the buttons feel pretty solid, but I’m curious about real battery life. On medium brightness how long does it actually last playing SNES/Genesis style games? Also how do the dual joysticks feel for fighting games, and is the TV output easy to set up? Not after a modern-console replacement, just want something comfortable and reliable for travel.

Grabbed one last week; battery on medium brightness got me through about two commutes and the dual sticks feel okay but a bit mushy for fighting games.

Setup was easy enough, but it arrived with some weird default settings (language and display) so I had to mess with the menus before it felt right — not a dealbreaker, just a minor annoyance.

I think on medium brightness mine gives about 4-5 hours playing SNES/Genesis stuff, sometimes a bit more if I don’t grind long sessions. It charges via USB-C and tops up pretty quick, though the included cable felt a bit flimsy so I swapped to a thicker one.

Seen a few people say the UI is surprisingly snappy and the save states actually work, which makes short commute sessions less annoying. The shell looks sturdy enough to survive being tossed in a bag. Headphone audio seems fine based on what others posted.

Dual joysticks are fine for casual fighting—I can do combos and special moves without hating it, but they’re not as crisp as an arcade stick. Feels comfy for short sessions, though small inputs can feel a bit mushy sometimes, maybe my unit. Not sure I’d use it for serious play.

From what people report, at medium brightness playing SNES/Genesis-style games you’re looking at roughly 3 to 4 hours. Good for a couple commutes, but not something to rely on for a long trip without topping up.

I’m skeptical about the battery numbers, mine barely gets past two hours at medium brightness playing SNES/Genesis games. On the plus side the second stick actually helps for some fighting setups and shmups.

Really enjoying mine on the train, screen and buttons feel solid. Tiny annoyance though, the power button gets pressed in my bag and wakes it up.

Thanks for the tips, helpful stuff. Quick follow up: thinking less about commuting and more about using it as an easy hotel or guest-room TV hookup so the family can play on the big screen without hauling a console, does the TV output usually just work plug and play? If anyone’s tried that setup, any heads up on which cables or dongles actually behaved would be appreciated.

I think the case and buttons feel surprisingly solid, not cheap garbage you’d expect at that price. The dual sticks are fine for casual play but feel a little plasticky compared to proper arcade sticks, so maybe don’t expect pro-level precision. Overall it feels travel-ready, not like it’ll fall apart in a bag.

Not sure who said the sticks are useless, but I think they’re fine for casual fighting matches. Maybe not tournament level, but I can pull off combos without much fuss. Battery life on medium was okay for me too, a couple hours on a commute.

Thanks I actually took it on a few commutes and battery on medium brightness lasted about 5-6 hours for SNES-ish stuff I think, so that works for me. The sticks are fine for casual fighting, not pro level, and TV out was pretty plug-and-play after a quick input switch maybe. Happy to keep it as my travel unit, cheers.

I think I get around 5-6 hours on medium brightness with SNES stuff, which seemed fine for my train rides. Not really into fighting games so I can’t help there, but the TV output was pretty straightforward when I tried it.

The TV output was pretty straightforward when I tried it, just plug and go. Battery wise I think it’s fine for what it is, never really worried about it dying mid trip. The sticks feel okay but I wouldn’t call them amazing for fighting games.

I wouldn’t bother with the TV output, it’s more hassle than it’s worth for me. I pretty much only use it on planes and I just keep the brightness low, battery lasts long enough for a couple flights easy.

I’ve had mine about two weeks and the battery holds up pretty well for me. I get a solid few hours playing Genesis stuff on medium brightness without any issues. The TV output works fine once you figure out the settings, but I don’t use it much. Overall it’s been a good little travel buddy so far.

Battery life on these things is usually fine for a commute, you’ll probably get a few hours out of it before it dies on medium brightness. The joysticks are okay, nothing special but they do the job for the odd fighting game. TV output is just plug and play with a cable, no drama. Honestly, it sounds like it covers what you’re after without being a big deal.

I’ve had mine for a while and honestly the battery is fine for a commute, but I wouldn’t trust it for a whole day out without charging. The sticks are okay for fighters if you’re not too picky, they get the job done but feel a bit loose to me. TV output worked without much hassle when I tried it, just plug and play. Not a bad little thing to have in a bag.

Thanks for the replies, that kind of settles it for me. Sounds like the battery is good enough for what I need and the joysticks aren’t a dealbreaker. I think I’ll just keep it as my travel buddy and not overthink it.

I’ve seen a couple of friends use theirs on the train, and they seemed happy enough with it for quick gaming sessions. The screen does look crisp, even on medium brightness, so that’s a bonus for a commute.
