Lily___MemberCharging the battery now for the first time. The light on the charger is red. Does it turn green when it’s done, or does it just go off? I don’t want to overcharge it. The manual is pretty vague about this.

Linda RobinsonMemberMine goes green when it’s done. I usually unplug it right after that and the battery has been fine for months.

MemberMine actually stays red the whole time and never switches colors. I just pull it after about 90 minutes and it’s been flying fine for weeks, so relying on the light changing is kind of a waste of time.

no_sleepParticipantRed light just means it’s charging, nothing fancier than that. If the manual is vague, half the time these things don’t even have a proper full indicator. I just charge mine until the brick gets warm and call it done.

Emma ReadsMemberMine turns green when it’s full.

Tom in NYCMemberI just unplug mine when the red light starts fading.

MemberI pull mine as soon as it’s been plugged in for about an hour, light color doesn’t matter much to me. Had a cheap drone years back that sat on the charger overnight and the battery puffed up, so I don’t leave any of them unattended now. Red or green, I just go by time.

MemberI get why the light color thing is confusing but I don’t think overcharging is really the risk here that people make it out to be. These little drone batteries aren’t like the old RC car packs where you had to babysit them. I’ve left mine plugged in way longer than I meant to plenty of times, like overnight once because I forgot about it, and nothing bad happened. It didn’t swell up or lose capacity or anything.
That said, it’s not really about the charger light at all. The light just tells you the charger is doing something. Whether it flips color or not, the battery itself is what decides when it’s done accepting a charge. So if yours stays red forever, that doesn’t mean it’s still pumping power in. It might just be a cheap indicator that doesn’t actually sense the battery state.
My point is, don’t treat the light like it’s some precise gauge. Unplug it when you remember to and you’ll be fine.

MemberI just watch mine for about an hour and pull it.
6 de October de 2026 at 01:31 #14500
EthanFreeMemberMine stayed red the whole time, then the light just went out when it was done. No green at all.
6 de October de 2026 at 02:03 #14503
Dave RunnerMemberMine goes green when it’s topped off, takes about 45 minutes or so. If yours stays red past that I’d keep an eye on it.

MemberI’d say don’t trust the charger light too much, mine has never gone green at all and it still flies fine. The manual being vague is annoying though, that part I get. If it’s your first charge I’d just give it a bit and see how warm it gets.

Tom BriggsMemberThe charger light on mine has never been reliable, and I’d trust the battery itself more than the light. What I noticed after a few charges is that the battery gets noticeably warm while it’s taking a charge and then cools off once it’s basically done. That’s been my cue more than any color change. The light on my charger does eventually flip, but it takes longer than the manual hints at, and once or twice it stayed red way past when the battery had clearly stopped taking anything.
The practical detail that might help you is that these batteries usually stop accepting a charge on their own, so leaving it plugged in an extra ten or fifteen minutes after it feels done isn’t going to cook it. The bigger thing I watch for is charging it on a hard surface instead of a carpet or bed, since mine gets warm enough that I don’t love the idea of it sitting on fabric. I also unplug the charger from the wall once I pull the battery, mostly because the charger itself stays warm for a while.
If your light never changes at all after a couple of charges, that’s more of a charger quirk than a battery problem in my experience. Mine flies the same either way.

MemberMine does the same red to green thing, usually takes about 40 minutes if the battery is pretty drained. I just unplug it once it flips and it’s been fine. The manual really doesn’t say much, so the light is all you’ve got.

MemberFirst charge usually takes longer than the ones after it, mine was close to an hour and a half before anything changed. After that it was way quicker. Just make sure it’s actually seated right in the charger, mine looked fine once but wasn’t clicked in all the way.

MemberFirst time I charged mine I sat there watching that red light like it was going to tell me a secret. It stayed red for close to two hours and I finally unplugged it because I was convinced something was wrong. Turned out it was just a slow first charge. The next few times it finished way faster and I stopped paying attention to the light altogether.
What I go by now is the battery itself. When it’s done, the little indicator on the pack stops blinking and just holds steady, and the pack feels a bit warm but not hot. That’s been more useful to me than the charger light, which on mine has basically one mood. Red forever.
I get why you’re asking though, the manual reads like it was written by someone who never touched the thing. If yours ever does change color, great, but don’t count on it being the signal. Just pull it once the pack indicator settles and you should be fine. I’ve been doing that for a few months now and the battery still holds a decent charge, so I don’t think I’ve cooked it yet.

MemberI’m still deciding on this drone so I haven’t charged one myself, but red-to-green seems to be the norm with these little chargers. The one thing I’d actually check is whether the battery feels warm after it flips, since that tells you more than the light sometimes.
6 de October de 2026 at 05:09 #14525
pixelnomadParticipantI’m in the same boat, still deciding whether to pick one of these up, so I haven’t charged a Black Falcon battery myself. But I’ve used enough of these little USB chargers on other toy drones to say the red-to-green thing isn’t universal. Some go green, some just cut off and the light stays red forever, and a few blink instead. The charger is usually the cheapest part of the whole kit, so I wouldn’t treat its light as gospel. What I’d pay more attention to is whether the battery gets warm and then cools back down, plus roughly how long the first charge runs compared to later ones. If it’s still sitting there red after a couple of hours I’d unplug it and see how it flies. That tells you more than the light ever will.

MemberMine actually needed a second round on the charger before it was truly topped off, even after the light turned green the first time. I plugged it back in and it stayed green almost right away, so that seems normal. I’d just pull it once it changes color.
6 de October de 2026 at 06:14 #14532Gary Scott
MemberRed to green is normal, but green doesn’t mean it’s actually done. Mine sat at green and still had maybe ten minutes of real charge left. If the manual won’t tell you, just pull it once it flips.

Emma__LMemberRed light turns green, that’s it.
