I’m thinking about getting a Flixy for my bedroom TV, but I’m used to my old Roku remote that just works. Does the Flixy remote feel okay for everyday use, or does it lag? I don’t need anything fancy, just want to know if it’s annoying to navigate. I haven’t bought one yet so I’m curious.

The Flixy remote is fine for basic stuff but it definitely has a bit of lag compared to my old Roku one. Not terrible, just noticeable when you’re scrolling through apps. For casual bedroom use I got used to it pretty quick.

I’ve had mine for about three months and the remote doesn’t bother me at all. I came from a Fire Stick remote that I constantly lost, so maybe my bar is low lol. But I don’t notice any lag when scrolling through apps or picking something to watch. The buttons are clicky and it feels fine in the hand. My only thing is it’s a little lightweight, but that’s not a dealbreaker. I use it pretty much every night on my bedroom TV and it does the job.

My dad has one on his garage TV and I used it for a couple weeks while I was staying over, so I get the remote question. Compared to a Roku remote it’s not as snappy, but the thing that actually bugged me was the button layout. I kept hitting the wrong thing because the buttons are small and close together, and my thumbs are not exactly tiny. The navigation itself was smooth enough, no crazy delay, just took me a few days to stop fumbling around. For basic browsing it’s fine, but if you’re someone who likes to flip through a ton of stuff quickly, that smaller remote might get on your nerves a bit. The voice search on it worked better than I expected though, that part surprised me.

Remote feels cheap but it works. Mine eats through batteries though, swapped them twice since spring. If you’re already happy with Roku, I’m not sure what you’re gaining here.

I’ve had mine for about a month and use it pretty much every night before bed. The remote isn’t as snappy as my old Roku one but I got used to it after a week or so. For basic browsing it’s totally fine.

I went through something kind of similar last year, except it was the reverse. My parents had a Flixy on their living room TV and I got so used to that remote while house sitting for them that when I went back to my own setup I kept fumbling around for a couple days. So the Flixy remote can definitely become normal if you give it a bit.

The practical thing I noticed is the button layout. The volume and power buttons are where my thumb naturally rests, which sounds minor but it made a difference for me at night when I’m not looking at the remote. My old remote had those in a slightly awkward spot so I was always hunting around. That part I actually preferred on the Flixy.

Where it fell short for me was scrolling through long lists. If you’re the type who browses a ton before picking something, the Flixy remote can feel a little sluggish on those longer scrolls. Not every tap, just when you’re doing a lot of them in a row. For me that was only annoying on weekends when I had time to browse. On weeknights I just pick something and go and it’s totally fine.

So it sort of depends on how you use it. If you mostly know what you want to watch, the remote won’t get in your way. If you like to scroll for twenty minutes, that’s where you’ll notice it more.

Mine actually feels snappier than my old Roku remote, no joke. I use mine mostly in hotel rooms when I travel and the remote has been totally fine for scrolling around. Maybe I just got a good one but I haven’t noticed any annoying lag.

I’d probably keep the Roku in the bedroom and try the Flixy somewhere else first. That way you’re not stuck relearning a remote for your main nightly setup. The Flixy remote is fine, just not really an upgrade if you already like what you have.

Mine has been fine for nightly use. The buttons click okay and it responds quick enough for me. I had to get used to the layout but that took like two days.

The lag thing gets overstated. I’ve used both and the Flixy remote isn’t any worse for flipping through apps. People just get attached to whatever they’re used to.

Mine has been fine, no lag at all.

I’ve had mine for about four months on a secondary TV and the remote has been the least of my complaints. It’s light and plasticky but the buttons register every press, which is more than I can say for the roku remote I had before that kept needing a battery wiggle. The layout took me maybe a week to stop fumbling, mostly because the home button sits where my thumb expects back. Navigation itself doesn’t lag in any way I notice. Scrolling through a long app list is a bit choppy sometimes, but that’s the stick doing the work, not the remote.

The thing I’d actually flag is that the remote uses its own little dongle situation, so if that gets lost you’re stuck. Mine lives on a side table and hasn’t wandered off yet. For a bedroom setup it’s fine. I wouldn’t call it an upgrade over a roku remote in feel, but it’s not a downgrade either.

I’d stick with the Roku remote for nightly use.

The remote is the one part I would actually call nicer than my old setup. I came from a Roku remote too and expected to hate the Flixy one, but the shape sits in my hand better and I stopped noticing it after a few nights. Mine doesn’t lag in any way I can feel while browsing. The thing that threw me off was the buttons being in different spots, so I hit the wrong one for a while. That passed. It still works fine months in, no dead buttons or weird delays. I mostly flip between a couple of apps and some YouTube, nothing heavy. For basic navigating around the home screen it just does the job. If you’re the type who knows their Roku remote by touch, the first week will bug you. After that it’s just a remote.

The remote itself isn’t the problem for me, it’s more that I keep hitting the wrong buttons because it’s smaller than what I’m used to. After a couple weeks it stopped bugging me though. If you just want basic navigation it’s fine.

The buttons are fine but the layout throws me off compared to Roku. I keep reaching for volume where the home button sits. Two weeks in and my thumb still hasn’t adjusted.

The remote is decent for basic stuff, but I do grab my phone sometimes when I need to type a search. For just flipping through apps and picking something to watch it’s been totally fine, no lag that I’ve noticed. It’s not going to feel as solid as a Roku remote in your hand though, so if that’s what you’re used to it might take a few days to stop bugging you.

The remote feels fine for everyday use. I mainly use it to pick shows and browse apps, and I haven’t noticed any lag that bothers me. It’s not fancy, but it does the job.

The remote works but it eats batteries way faster than my old Roku one did. Swapped them twice in about two months. That gets old.

The lag is not the issue, it’s the cheap plastic feel. Mine creaks every time I pick it up. For basic browsing it does the job though.

I’ve had mine a few months and the remote still feels pretty responsive for just picking something to watch. The one thing I’d mention is the USB power cable, it’s short enough that I had to plug it into the TV rather than the wall. Not a dealbreaker but worth knowing.

I’ve been using the Flixy remote on and off for a few months now and the thing that actually surprised me is how well it handles the directional pad. My old Roku remote had that mushy click feel after a while, but the Flixy one still feels pretty crisp. Where it differs for me is the app shortcuts, they’re laid out in a way that doesn’t match how I actually use the thing, so I end up scrolling to find what I want instead of just hitting a button. Not a dealbreaker but it’s a small adjustment. Navigation itself hasn’t been annoying for me though. Flipping between apps and picking something to watch feels about the same as any other streaming remote once you get past the first couple days of muscle memory. If you’re mostly just browsing and hitting play, it does the job fine.

My old Roku remote still beats most of these clickers.

The Flixy remote is fine for basic navigation. It’s not as snappy as my old Roku one, but I’ve never had it straight up freeze on me either. If you’re just picking shows and scrolling around, it does the job without much fuss.

Remote was never the issue for me, the stick itself is.

Ended up ordering one anyway since the price was low enough to gamble on. If the clicker bugs me I’ll just deal with it. Appreciate the mixed takes, at least now I know what I’m walking into.
