MemberI had an old Roku stick on my bedroom TV and the remote was pretty snappy. Now I’m using a Flixy and sometimes the remote feels a bit laggy when scrolling through apps. Is that just how it is or does it get better after updates? Not a huge deal but I’m curious if others notice the same thing.

StanMemberMine actually felt smoother after a couple weeks, not worse. The lag I noticed at first was mostly on my hotel wifi, not the remote itself.

MemberMine stayed laggy the whole time I had it.

MemberI noticed the same kind of thing on my living room setup, but it was mostly the apps themselves loading slowly rather than the remote. Once everything was open and running, scrolling felt fine. What helped me was just giving it a minute after turning it on instead of jumping straight into an app. The first bit always feels a little stiff, then it settles down. So it might not be the remote at all, just the stick catching up in the background. I wouldn’t stress too much about it since it’s a pretty common thing with these little devices, and mine has been totally fine for casual watching. If it’s still bugging you after a while, maybe a restart here and there, but otherwise it’s just how these things go sometimes.

MemberI don’t think the lag is something that just goes away with updates, at least not in my case. I’ve had mine since spring and the remote still has that slight delay when I’m moving around menus, though it’s never bad enough to actually bother me. Coming from an older stick you’ll probably notice it more at first, but I stopped caring after a while. It’s just how this one feels.

MemberI’d just return it if the remote annoys you now. I kept a Flixy for about a month and the input delay never improved, even after two updates. Waiting around hoping a patch fixes basic navigation is a waste of time.

MemberI’d probably hold off if the remote feel is the main thing you care about. I bought a Flixy for my spare TV about six weeks ago and the scrolling lag is still there, especially in the menus. It’s not constant, but it’s noticeable enough that I still reach for my old Roku when I’m actually browsing for something instead of just hitting play. I kept mine because the price was low and it does the basic stuff fine for guests, but I wouldn’t buy it expecting the remote to feel as quick as a Roku. For me it’s a secondary device at best, not a replacement for the one I use every day.

Luis_A91MemberProbably just how it is, mine never felt as snappy as my old stick.

MemberMine actually got snappier after a couple weeks.

MemberMine actually got worse for the first week and then settled down once it finished whatever background stuff it does. I’ve had mine since last fall and the remote is fine now, not old Roku fine but close enough.

MemberMine still has that little delay when I’m moving around menus, and I’ve had it for a few months now. It’s not terrible, just noticeable if you’re used to something snappier. Doesn’t really bug me during actual shows though.
23 de September de 2026 at 02:20 #12463Elena Voss
MemberMine does it on the home screen, not in apps.
23 de September de 2026 at 03:15 #12469
L_ParkerMemberMine feels fine for the most part, but I did notice it’s a bit quicker when I’m not jumping between apps. Once I just stay in one thing it’s basically normal.
23 de September de 2026 at 04:11 #12475RonWeek
MemberThe lag on mine is mostly tied to the Wi-Fi in that room. When I moved the stick to the living room TV closer to the router, the remote felt normal again. So it might not be the remote itself.

AnnaKParticipantNot sure updates are the fix. Mine is still a bit sluggish on the Flixy and I’ve been running it since spring. Maybe it’s just how the cheaper sticks feel compared to Roku.
23 de September de 2026 at 05:46 #12486Maya Chen
MemberI mostly just leave mine alone and deal with it. The delay bugs me for a day and then I forget about it. If it really got on my nerves I’d swap back to the Roku for that TV.
23 de September de 2026 at 06:22 #12490
Tom in NYCMemberProbably just how the cheaper hardware is.
23 de September de 2026 at 06:51 #12494
Daniele RossiMemberUpdates won’t fix it. That’s just the hardware doing its thing, and honestly the old Roku sticks were snappier because they were built for that simple interface. I’d keep the Flixy only if you mostly watch one app at a time.
23 de September de 2026 at 07:17 #12497Taylor R.
MemberUpdates are not going to magically fix remote lag. I don’t buy that. I’ve messed with enough cheap streaming sticks to know the remote delay usually comes down to how the thing handles input, not whatever firmware version you’re on. You can wait for the next patch all you want, but if the hardware is already struggling to keep up with the interface, the remote is going to feel behind no matter what.
The old Roku stick felt snappier because it was doing less. Roku’s whole thing was a stripped down grid of channels, and the remote just had to move a cursor around. Once you start layering in app previews, background stuff, whatever else these sticks run, the input gets queued up and you feel it. That is just the tradeoff.
So no, I wouldn’t count on it getting better. If the lag is mild and you can live with it, fine. If it’s driving you nuts, that’s not something a future update is realistically going to erase.

Dave RunnerMemberMine felt a bit sticky the first week too, but it smoothed out after I cleared a couple apps I wasn’t using. Could be coincidence, but scrolling feels fine now.
23 de September de 2026 at 07:52 #12502Rob K1
MemberI don’t care much about remote lag, but I do notice the Flixy runs warmer than my old stick ever did. Mine’s been fine for casual watching, though I wouldn’t use it as my main setup.
