Does the Melara Air fit standard pillowcases?

I tried a couple of random standard cases from my closet and they all technically fit, just snug around the corners. What actually helped was washing the case first so it softened up a bit. It stretches over the shape easier after that.

Mine fits a standard case fine, just looks a little lumpy because of the cutouts. I didn’t bother buying anything special for it. It’s a pillow, not a fitted sheet.

I actually measured mine against a standard case before buying anything special, and the cutouts are what cause the trouble, not the overall size. A regular case goes on, it just pulls tight right where the shoulder dips are. If you want it to sit flat, you may need to look at cases made for contour pillows instead.

I’d just look at the actual case opening rather than the label. Mine fits a standard case, but the cover has a bit of stretch, which makes more difference than the butterfly shape. A stiff cotton one would probably be tighter.

Standard cases are a compromise at best with this shape. I tried two of mine and the cutouts just bunch up on the sides, so I stopped caring how it looks. It sleeps the same either way.

I gave up on regular cases and grabbed one meant for contour pillows. Still a little loose in spots but nothing bunches up anymore. Not a perfect fit but close enough for me.

I don’t think the butterfly shape is really the problem people make it out to be. I’ve had mine for about four months and I just use a regular queen case I already owned. It’s loose in a couple spots but nothing bunches up badly enough to bug me. The one thing I’d say is that if you’re trying to force it into a case that’s already snug on a normal pillow, of course it’s going to fight you, since the foam doesn’t squish down the way a fiber fill does. But that’s more about the case being too small than the pillow being some weird shape that no case can handle. I never went out and bought anything special for it and I’ve been fine. If your old case is a squeeze, that’s just the wrong case, not a sign you need to go hunting for some specialty cover.
