I’m thinking about getting a WaveMax but my TV is a bit older and doesn’t have a built-in digital tuner. Would it still work if I use a converter box, or is this antenna only for newer TVs?

I’d probably just plug it into the converter box and see what happens. My TV is from like 2008 and I had the same concern but it picked up channels fine after the box. Not sure if it’s worth it if you’re only expecting a ton of channels though.

I think it would probably work fine with a converter box. I have an older set myself and I just ran the antenna into the box and it picked up channels without much fuss. The WaveMax is just an antenna after all, so as long as the signal gets to the tuner it should be good.

Should work fine. The antenna just sends a signal, doesn’t care how old the TV is. As long as you have a converter box with a coaxial input, plug the WaveMax into that and run a channel scan.

Honestly, the antenna itself doesn’t care what kind of TV it’s plugged into. I think it’ll work fine as long as the converter box has the right input.

Honestly, I think people overthink this stuff. The antenna doesn’t know how old your TV is, it’s just grabbing a signal and sending it down the wire. If your converter box has a coax hookup for the antenna, you’re good to go.

Honestly, I’d just set it up with the converter box and see if it works. That’s what I did with mine and it was fine.

Converter box should handle it. That’s literally what those things are for. I’d be more worried about the WaveMax’s range claims than the TV compatibility.

Honestly, I think people make this way more complicated than it needs to be. The antenna just grabs a signal and sends it down the wire. It doesn’t know or care if your TV has a tuner built in. Plug it into the converter box and run a channel scan. That should be it.

Figured I’d pop back in and say thanks for the replies. Hooked mine up to an old converter box and it picked up channels just fine, so no issues there.
