I keep seeing the TrimZa pop up and it looks handy for quick trims, but I’m wondering if it actually handles thicker nails okay or if it’s more for just light maintenance. The safety guard and enclosed chamber sound nice, but I don’t want to buy it and find out it struggles with my husband’s toenails. Anyone tried it on something a bit tougher?

I haven’t used it on really thick nails myself, but I remember reading that it’s more for keeping up with normal trimming rather than tackling tough ones. The safety guard is nice for avoiding cuts though.

I think the thickness thing gets exaggerated a bit. It’s not a power tool, but it’s not useless on tougher nails either. The main thing is patience it grinds slow so you just have to let it do its thing instead of forcing it.

I grabbed one mostly for the convenience and honestly it handles regular trimming fine. On really thick nails it can take a bit longer but it still worked for me, just had to go slower. Not totally sure I’d want to use it on really tough stuff every time though.

It’s probably fine for regular upkeep. Thick nails might take a bit longer but I doubt it’ll just give up on them.

I have one and it’s fine for normal trimming but I wouldn’t count on it for really thick toenails. It’ll do the job eventually but it’s definitely slower and you have to go over the same spot a few times.

Honestly I got one for my own nails and they’re not super thick so it works fine. But I tried it on my dad’s toenails once and it just kinda buzzed there without doing much. Probably better for regular upkeep if you ask me.

I feel like if your husband’s toenails are really thick, you might be better off sticking with a good pair of clippers. I’d probably keep the TrimZa for quick touch-ups and hand him the manual ones for the heavy work.

I mean, I got mine mostly because I hate the mess from clippers and it does a decent job just keeping things tidy week to week. I haven’t tried it on anything really gnarly though, so I can’t say for sure if it’d handle your husband’s nails. It’s more of a convenience thing than a heavy duty tool to me.
