I’ve been using my SonaBuds for normal music and calls and the battery seems fine, but I’m curious how the battery holds up if you’re using the translation feature for a longer conversation. Does it drain noticeably faster? I’m thinking about using them on a trip soon and just wondering what to expect.

Translation uses more processing, so yeah it drains faster than just music. Still got me through a solid hour-long conversation before I needed the case. Not as bad as I expected honestly.

I wouldn’t overthink it too much. The case charges them up pretty quick so even if you drain them faster with translation, you’re not stuck waiting long. I’d just toss the case in your bag and not worry about it.

I haven’t really tested the translation mode for super long stretches, but I’d guess it does drain a bit more since it’s doing a lot in the background. The case charging is pretty fast though, so it never felt like a big deal to me.

I haven’t used translation for super long yet, but I noticed the battery drops faster than just music for sure. Still got through a good 45 minutes of back and forth without needing the case though. The quick charging in the case makes it less of a worry for me.

I mean, yeah it drains faster, that’s obvious since it’s doing more work. But honestly I just use the offline mode when I can and that seems to help a bit. Still got me through a long dinner conversation without needing to toss them back in the case.

Honestly I haven’t used translation long enough to really notice, but I’d guess it drains faster since the buds are doing more work. I figure as long as the case can top them up quick it’s not a huge deal for a trip.

Translation uses more power, that’s just how it goes. I’ve used mine for a couple of longer chats and it drained faster than music, but not to the point where it was a problem. The case tops them up quick enough that I never really worried about it.

I feel like people worry about battery life more than they need to. Even if translation uses a bit more power, the case charges them so fast that you can just pop them back in for a few minutes between conversations. I’d say just go for it on your trip and keep the case handy.

I’ve had my pair for a few months now and honestly the battery still holds up fine for me even with translation. I used it for a solid hour at a family dinner and it wasn’t dead or anything when I put them back in the case. For a trip I’d just toss the case in my bag and not worry about it.

I mean it makes sense that it would use more battery since it’s doing the whole translation thing on top of everything else. I used mine for a 30 minute conversation and it was fine, still had plenty of charge left after. The case charges them up so fast anyway that I never really worry about it.

I haven’t pushed mine through a super long conversation yet, but I used the translation for about 20 minutes at a family gathering and it was fine. It didn’t seem to drain dramatically or anything, just a bit more than usual. I think the case is good enough that it’s not really a worry for a trip.

I think it drains a bit faster but not in a way that actually ruined anything for me. I used it for like 30 minutes straight once and it was still fine when I put them back in the case later.

I dunno, I feel like it’s not that big of a deal. I used mine for a whole afternoon once and didn’t notice it dying any faster than normal.

I haven’t really tested mine on a super long conversation yet, but I did use translation for a short call at the airport and it seemed fine. Probably drains a bit more than just music but not enough to really bother me on a normal day.

It’s a power drain for sure, but I think the bigger issue is that you’re tethered to your phone the whole time. The battery in the case makes it fine for a day out, but you still need to babysit the app. Not a dealbreaker, just annoying if you’re trying to be hands-free.

Translation is a separate thing so yeah it’s gonna pull more power. Not totally sure how much it matters for a trip though since you can just pop them back in the case between conversations.

Thanks for the input everyone, that helps. Sounds like it drains a bit faster but nothing too crazy for regular use. I’ll just keep the case handy and not worry about it too much.
