Took the Pro Capture snorkeling last weekend and the case stayed clear, but I keep seeing people say it fogs up. I only had it happen once after a quick temp change. Maybe I’m just lucky, or maybe it depends on how you seal it. Anyone else notice this or am I missing something?

Mine fogged up pretty bad on the first beach trip, then never again after that. I think it just depends on the humidity and how quickly you move between AC and the water. I wouldn’t read too much into it.

I’ve had mine fog up maybe twice out of maybe a dozen trips. Both times it was when I went from sitting in a hot car straight into the water. The case itself was fine, but the lens had a thin mist on it for the first few minutes.

The weird part is that it cleared up on its own once the water temp evened things out. I never bothered doing anything about it, just let it sit for a bit and it sorted itself out. I don’t use any of those anti-fog pads or rice tricks or whatever people suggest.

One thing I noticed is that it seems worse if you open the case right before you go in. If I seal it up in the shade or inside before heading out, it stays clear. If I’m messing with the camera on the beach in the sun and then snap it shut, that’s when I get fog. Not every time, but enough that I noticed the pattern.

I think some people just have worse luck with it depending on where they are. Humid coastal spots probably make it more likely. I wouldn’t say it’s a defect or anything, just something that happens with waterproof housings in general.

I’ve had mine fog once and it was purely from leaving it in a hot car and then dunking it. If you let it sit out for a few minutes before sealing it up, it’s usually a non-issue. I’d rather have that than a case that leaks.

I think the seal plays a bigger role than people give it credit for. When I first got mine, I was so careful about making sure the case was totally dry inside before closing it. Then one time I was in a rush and closed it while there was still a bit of moisture on the rubber part from rinsing it off. That’s the only time I ever saw fog. After that I just started giving it a quick shake and wipe before sealing and it’s been fine every single time. Also, I noticed the temp change thing only really bothers me when I leave it sitting in direct sun for a while. If I keep it in the shade until I’m ready to jump in, it’s clear as can be. Could just be coincidence though.

Mine fogged up the second time I used it, right after I took it out of the car on a hot day. Hasn’t happened since, but I also stopped treating the case like it’s some invincible vault. I think people expect it to handle anything and then blame the case when basic physics kick in.

The seal thing matters more than most want to admit. I make sure it clicks all the way around before I get in the water. If you’re rushing it, you’re asking for trouble.

That said, the fact that it’s inconsistent is annoying. You never know if you’re going to get a clear shot or a blurry mess until you’re already out there. Glad yours is working out, but I’m not about to trust it fully on a trip where the footage actually matters.

I haven’t had fogging issues, but I also don’t leave the case closed up for long before hitting the water. The one time I saw moisture inside was after I sealed it while the camera was still warm from charging. That seemed to do it.

I’ve had the opposite problem, mine fogs up almost every time I use it in cooler water.

Fogging seems pretty hit or miss from what I’ve read. Mine was clear on the last beach trip, but I also made sure the case was dry inside before sealing it. Probably just comes down to the conditions you’re in and how careful you are with it.

Mine fogged a little the first time I used it at the lake, but I noticed it was right after I had the case closed up in my bag for like an hour before I got in. Once I started opening it up and letting it air out before I sealed it, I haven’t had any issues at all.

Temp changes are probably the main trigger. I’ve had it stay clear on a warm beach and then fog up on a cooler morning dive, same case, same sealing routine. I don’t think it’s a seal issue so much as just how the air inside reacts.
