Thinking about picking up Omnihear for restaurants and gatherings but wondering how well the social mode actually handles background noise. I keep seeing the marketing claims but not sure if it really helps or just turns everything up. Anyone tested it in a loud place?

I just use it in social mode and leave it alone. Works fine for me at my usual spots, doesn’t make everything louder like I was worried about.

I haven’t tried it in a super loud place yet, but at my usual restaurants it’s been okay. I wouldn’t expect it to work miracles if the place is really chaotic though.

Social mode handles noise better than I expected, but it’s not magic. In a loud restaurant it still picks up some clatter, but voices cut through enough for me to follow conversations. I’d say it’s worth trying if you’re not expecting total silence.

I think it does a decent enough job. It’s not going to make a noisy place quiet, but you can hear people better without it getting too messy. I wouldn’t stress too much about it.

I gave social mode a try at a busy pub and it was fine for following the conversation at my table. Not life changing but I didn’t have to ask people to repeat themselves as much. I think it handles noise better than just turning everything up but it’s not like the background disappears completely.

I’ve been wondering the same thing honestly. I don’t really eat out that often but when I do it’s usually pretty loud so I’m curious if social mode just makes everything feel like it’s the same volume.

Alright, thanks for the replies. Sounds like it’s decent enough for a sit-down spot but don’t expect magic in a real loud bar. That’s pretty much what I figured, so I’ll probably pass for now.
