Been looking at the ResQVac for the car and kitchen. The mask sizes are adult and child, but I’m wondering if the adult mask is too loose on a smaller person. Anyone tried it on someone with a smaller face? Just curious if it seals well enough or if it’s mostly for average builds.

I have the same worry honestly. My wife is pretty petite and the adult mask looks like it would cover a good chunk of her face. I think the seal is probably fine in a real emergency since you’re pressing down firmly, but it’s not something you can really test properly without actually needing it.

The whole “adult mask won’t fit small faces” thing gets blown out of proportion. I’m not exactly built like a linebacker myself, and I’ve had no problem getting a seal when I’ve practiced with mine. The mask is flexible enough that it molds a bit when you push down, which is the whole point of the “place” step. It’s not like a rigid CPR mask that just sits on top.

I get the concern, but people overthink the sizing. If it’s literally falling off, sure, use the child one. But for most smaller adults, the adult mask pressing down firmly is going to do the job. Choking emergencies aren’t exactly the moment for a perfect custom fit anyway.

Probably fine honestly. Unless someone has a really tiny face, the adult mask should still form a decent enough seal to do the job in an emergency. These things are meant to work in a panic, not be a perfect custom fit. I wouldnt overthink it.

It’s probably fine. These things don’t need to be perfect, just good enough to get the job done in a panic. If it’s sitting over the mouth and nose without obvious gaps, I wouldn’t overthink it. You’ll have bigger things to worry about if you actually need to use it.

I think people overanalyze the fit on this thing. As long as it covers the mouth and nose and you press down to get that seal, it’s going to do its job. A little extra space around the edges is not the end of the world in a panic situation.

I mean, for an emergency device I wouldn’t stress too much about a perfect seal. A little gap isn’t going to matter much when someone’s actually choking. But if you’re really concerned, the child mask might give you more peace of mind. I’d probably just keep both masks nearby and see which one feels more secure.

I actually had a chance to try one of these on my sister in law, who’s pretty petite. She’s maybe 5’2” and has a narrow face, so I was curious about the same thing. We didn’t do a full demo or anything, just held it up to see how it sat. It wasn’t as loose as I expected. The mask kind of molded to her face well enough that we both figured it would work in a real situation. Not a perfect seal like a medical mask, but for something you’d grab in a panic, it seemed fine. She said it felt a bit big around the chin area but not enough that she’d worry about it slipping off.

I think the bigger thing is just pressing down firmly when you use it. The manual suction part does most of the work anyway, so the fit doesn’t need to be perfect. I’ve also seen videos of people using it on mannequins and it seems forgiving. My sister in law even joked that if it worked on her, it would work on anyone. That was good enough for me.

I wouldn’t overthink the size thing. It’s one of those devices you hope you never have to use, so as long as it covers the mouth and nose and you follow the steps, it’s probably going to do its job.

If you’re that worried about it, just hang onto the child mask too. It’s not like switching them takes any real effort, and you’re already storing the thing anyway. Better to have both in reach than to stand there fumbling with a loose fit when someone’s actually choking.

Honestly, fit is one of those things you probably won’t notice until you actually need it. As long as you’re pressing it down to create the seal, I can’t imagine it being a problem unless someone has an extremely tiny head.

Honestly, it sounds like the two masks give you enough flexibility that fit probably won’t be a dealbreaker. I’d just keep the child mask nearby as a backup if you’re really unsure. It’s nice that they thought to include both sizes in the box though.

If the adult mask is loose, the child mask is right there. Seems pretty straightforward to me. Not sure why people expect one mask to fit every single face on the planet.
