Hey, I was messing around with my little portable setup in a hotel room and noticed the remote felt kinda sluggish when I was sitting on the bed instead of right next to it. Is that normal or just me? Not sure if it’s the walls or just the distance.

Walls definitely matter for some of these controllers, especially if it’s just a cheap IR thing. Distance alone usually isn’t the issue until you’re way far, but a wall or two can kill the signal quick. Could also just be the hotel room layout messing with it more than usual.

Huh, that’s interesting. I always figured it was more about the signal getting blocked by your own body or furniture than the walls themselves. Could just be the angle you’re holding it at from the bed.

I’ve noticed the same thing in my place. Honestly I think it’s usually the walls more than the distance. My remote works fine across the room as long as there’s nothing solid in between.

I think it’s probably just the distance and maybe your own body blocking it a bit. I usually just sit closer if it feels laggy, not a big deal honestly 😅

Hotel walls are weird for signal stuff, yeah. I’ve had remotes act up just because I turned my body the wrong way. Not really a lag thing but it feels like it.

I’ve had the same thing happen with a remote in a hotel before. It’s usually the walls or the furniture in the way, not the distance itself. Works fine if I just move a bit closer.

Hotels always seem to have weird interference. I wouldn’t worry about it too much, probably just the room layout.

I think it’s probably a mix of both, but I’m not totally sure how much the walls really matter vs just being farther away. I’d guess line of sight makes the biggest difference.

Walls and distance both mess with signal, but it’s not exactly rocket science. Just move closer if it bothers you. Not much else to it.

Walls block signal, distance adds delay, not really a mystery. Most of these things use simple radio that doesn’t punch through much. Probably just the room layout being awkward.

Yeah that’s pretty much what I figured, just wanted to see if it was normal. Guess I’ll just stick closer to the setup next time. Thanks for the replies.
