Thinking about getting the Vital Shoulder Massager, but I keep seeing it move around in videos. Does it really stay put on its own, or are you constantly adjusting it? Just wondering before I spend the money.

I’ve seen the same thing in videos and was a bit worried too. Mine stays on fine as long as I’m not moving around a lot, but if I’m walking or bending over it does shift a bit. For sitting at a desk or on the couch it’s been fine, so it really depends on what you’re planning to do while wearing it.

Mine slid off if I leaned forward at all.

Mine stays put fine when I’m sitting still at my desk, but the moment I get up and move around it starts shifting. I just use it while I’m watching something and don’t expect to walk around with it. As long as you aren’t moving much, it’s fine.

It holds up if you’re basically parked in one spot. That’s the honest answer. The strap does its job, but it’s not magic. You’re not going to be pacing around the kitchen making coffee while it stays locked in place.

What got me is that it’s more about how you’re sitting than anything else. Slouching forward or twisting to grab something is when it starts to creep. If you’re just leaning back on the couch or sitting upright at a desk, fine. But if you’re the type who fidgets or shifts around a lot, you’ll be nudging it back into place every few minutes.

It’s not a dealbreaker for me, but the “hands-free” part only really works if you’re actually staying still. I wouldn’t buy it expecting to wear it while doing chores.

If you’re mostly sitting still, it’s totally fine, but I wouldn’t expect it to hold up during any real movement.

It depends how much you’re moving, honestly. I use mine on the couch after work and it stays where I put it for the whole session. But if I try to get up and grab a drink or something, it definitely starts to slip. It’s not a huge deal for me since I just use it sitting down, but if you’re expecting to walk around with it, that’s probably not happening.

Strap tension matters more than people think. I had to tighten mine almost all the way before it stayed put during a session. Once I did that, it was fine. Never tried walking around with it though.

The issue is that people treat this thing like it’s a backpack. It’s not. It’s a massager that happens to wrap over your shoulder, not a piece of clothing engineered to survive movement. If you’re sitting on the couch or at a desk, it’s fine. The strap holds it in place well enough for that. But the second you stand up, walk to the kitchen, bend over to grab something, yeah, it’s going to shift. That’s physics. It’s a weighted device hanging off one shoulder.

The videos that show it moving around aren’t exaggerating. But those videos are also usually showing someone walking around or doing stuff. If your plan is to wear it while you’re actually doing things, you’re going to be disappointed. If your plan is to sit still and let it work, you’ll be fine. It just depends on what you expect from it.

I think it depends on what you’re doing while wearing it. If you’re just sitting on the couch or at your desk, it’s fine. But if you’re trying to walk around or do stuff, yeah, it’s going to slide. I wouldn’t expect it to stay locked in place if you’re moving much.

I had the opposite experience honestly. Mine slipped off no matter how tight I made the strap. I ended up holding it with my hand most of the time, which kind of defeated the whole point for me. Maybe I got a defective one but I would not count on it staying put.

I’m honestly surprised by how many people expect this thing to stay locked in place while they’re moving around. I use mine sitting at my desk and it’s fine, but the second I lean forward to grab something it shifts. That’s just how it is with these strap designs.

I think a lot of it comes down to body shape, honestly. My shoulders slope quite a bit, and the strap just doesn’t grip the way it does on someone with broader, flatter shoulders. I can get it to stay if I’m sitting perfectly still, but the second I lean forward to grab my coffee or twist to reach something, it starts sliding down and I catch it with my elbow. It’s not annoying enough to make me stop using it, but I wouldn’t rely on it staying put while I move around much.

That said, the massage itself is decent and the heat is nice. I just treat it more like a “sit back and don’t move” kind of thing rather than something I can wear while doing chores. If you’re the type to sit still and zone out during a session, you’ll probably be fine. If you fidget a lot, you might end up holding it in place more than you’d like.

I’ve had the opposite experience from some people here. Mine stays on fine, but I think it’s because I don’t try to do much while wearing it. I mostly use it when I’m reading or watching something, sitting still. I never had to crank the strap down all the way either, just adjusted it normally and it stayed.

I do think if you’re expecting to walk around or move your arm a lot while it’s on, you’ll be fighting it the whole time. But that’s not really how I use it, so it hasn’t been an issue for me. The weight is light enough that it doesn’t pull or slide once it’s positioned right.

I’d say it really comes down to whether you’re okay sitting still for the 12 minutes. If you are, it should be fine. If you want to multitask, you’ll probably be annoyed.

Honestly I think a lot of the “it slides off” stuff comes from people expecting it to stay put like a backpack while they’re walking around doing chores or whatever. I use mine when I’m parked at my desk or leaning back on the couch and it stays fine without me holding it. The strap does its job if you actually tighten it.

But I also get why some people struggle with it. If you’re shifting around a lot, leaning forward to grab something, or trying to wear it while standing and moving, yeah it’s gonna shift. It’s not magic. I found that once I stopped treating it like something I could wear while cooking dinner or whatever, it was fine. I just sit still for the 12 minutes and let it do its thing. The cordless part is nice because I can get up and grab a drink without unstrapping it, but I do have to readjust when I sit back down. That’s not a dealbreaker for me though.

I’d say if you’re the type of person who can sit still for a few minutes, you’ll be fine. If you’re planning to wear it while doing other stuff, you’re gonna be disappointed. I think a lot of the videos you see where it’s sliding around are people who are fidgeting or moving around too much. It’s a massager, not a piece of clothing.

Mine stays on okay, but I think it also depends on how much you’re moving. I mostly use it while reading and it doesn’t slide much. I tried walking to the kitchen once to grab water and it definitely shifted, so it’s not gonna survive a full day of chores.
