I have a small indoor cat who sleeps on my bed and lately her collar jingles all night. I tried a soft breakaway one but it still makes noise and seems to wake her up. I’m focused on comfort and don’t want anything heavy or fiddly to put on. Do collars that are actually quiet exist, or am I just expecting too much?
I think truly silent collars are pretty rare, anything with a bell will jingle. I usually just take mine off at night and the cat sleeps fine, maybe try that before hunting for a miracle collar.
Not a big deal, honestly. Higher build quality helps — solid fittings and a snug bell reduce the jangling compared to cheap, floppy collars — but none I’ve tried were truly silent without feeling bulky. It’s mostly a trade-off between quiet and light.
I think totally silent collars are pretty uncommon, maybe you can find one that’s much quieter but I’m not sure any are truly noise-free.
Seems like more of a minor annoyance than a real problem. The jingling is irritating but if the cat still curls up on the bed it’s probably not waking her much. I’d not stress about it unless it’s keeping both of you awake.
Not a big deal where I am, cats tend to ignore the noise. If it’s driving you nuts just take the collar off at night, my cat sleeps fine without one.
You’re probably overestimating how much it’s actually waking her, I think cats tune out repetitive sounds. Maybe she just shifts and the bell is noticeable to you, not a full wake-up. Not totally sure, but I wouldn’t lose sleep over it unless you see full nights of restlessness.
I disagree, expecting a perfectly silent collar is unrealistic and most cats just learn to ignore the jingling.
