MemberHad an old cheap jug for years and just switched to a BRITA Marella. Water actually tastes better and the flip-top filling is way easier when my hands are full. The digital filter reminder is useful but the cartridges need changing roughly every month so it is a recurring cost. It fits in the fridge door better than my old bulky thing which is nice. Curious if anyone else feels it makes enough difference to keep replacing filters.

Maria_BakesMemberI’ve got the Marella too and yeah, taste is better but those monthly filter swaps do add up. I have a little routine of topping it up every morning while I boil water for coffee so there’s always cold water ready, and I stash a spare cartridge in the cupboard. Bit annoying cost-wise, but I still think it’s worth it for daily use.

Paul847ParticipantGot one recently; fits the fridge door so much better than my old jug. Flip-top is handy and the little memo light actually stops you forgetting quite often.

HanSoloParticipantMaybe I’m just cheap, but I can’t tell if swapping filters every month is actually worth it long-term. It does make my tap taste better, but I’m not convinced it’s doing anything dramatic if your water’s already okay. I’ll probably keep it for convenience, not because it’s some miracle fix.

northshoreParticipantI think changing the cartridge every month is overkill unless you have a big household. I usually push them to six weeks and haven’t noticed any taste drop, so I ignore the digital memo most of the time.

AnnaKParticipantMonthly swaps sound a bit excessive to me unless your tap is really bad. That digital memo feels like it’s guilt-tripping you into buying replacements. Still, the fridge-fit and flip-top are nice perks so I get why folks stick with it.

LauTopMemberI think it does make the tap taste nicer. That filter timer feels a bit on the safe side though, I usually leave mine in closer to six weeks and haven’t noticed anything off. If the replacement cost annoys you you can probably stretch them a bit without immediate harm.

MemberBought one a while back and yeah, the water is nicer and the lid is super convenient when I’m with hands full. The cartridge cost nags at me though, so I’ve been letting them run a little longer than the memo says and haven’t noticed a big drop. Still not sure if I’ll stick to monthly swaps…

coffeeandscreensParticipantI’d keep replacing them if you drink a lot of tap water or care about tastier tea/coffee — it was noticeable for me. The monthly cost stings a bit but felt worth it because we actually used it every day. If it’s just occasional use you probably won’t notice enough to make it worth the expense.

MemberThanks for the input. I’ll keep it for now despite the monthly cartridge expense, the convenience is worth it to me. If it starts feeling too pricey I’ll rethink it later.

coffeeandscreensParticipantHonestly, the monthly filter cost annoys me too but it’s not exactly a budget-buster. If the water actually tastes better and it fits your fridge, it feels like one of those small steady expenses like coffee or streaming. Just keep swapping them and move on.

MemberI can see the monthly filter thing being a mild annoyance but honestly if the water tastes better and it actually fits in the fridge door properly that’s already a win over my old jug. I’ve been using mine for a couple months now and I still haven’t figured out if I’m changing the cartridge too early or too late, the timer just blinks at me and I swap it anyway.
