MemberI’ve been using my ClairLite for a few weeks now and it seems to work fine for freshening up the room, but I noticed a weird faint smell after I run it. Kind of like ozone or something? Is that normal or is my unit just doing something weird?

MemberI’ve heard other people say the same thing about UV sanitizers in general. That ozone-like smell seems pretty common with these kinds of lamps, nothing too unusual.

MemberI get why you’d notice it, but that ozone smell is pretty standard for UV lamps. It fades fast enough for me that I don’t really mind it.

MemberI noticed the same faint smell with mine, it’s not super strong or anything. Figured it’s just part of how it works since it goes away after a bit. Doesn’t bother me much.

Dani MoonMemberThat ozone smell is normal for UV-C lamps, it’s just how they work. It fades pretty quickly once you air the room out. Not really anything to worry about.

pixelnomadParticipantI’ve noticed that with mine too. It’s faint and doesn’t linger long after I air the room out, so I just figured it’s part of the UV-C thing. Doesn’t bother me much.

MemberI wouldn’t worry about it too much. That faint smell is just what UV-C lamps do when they run. It’s never been strong enough to bother me and it airs out pretty fast.

MemberI just leave a window cracked for a few minutes after running mine and the smell clears out fast enough.

MemberI think it’s probably just normal. Mine does the same thing and I barely notice it anymore.

MemberMine smells too but I just figured that’s what happens when you run something that zaps the air. It’s not like it’s gonna kill you or anything, just crack a window if it bugs you. Works fine otherwise.

MemberI noticed the same thing when I first got mine. It’s pretty faint and doesn’t stick around long, so I never really thought twice about it. Works fine for what it does.

MemberI’m still kind of on the fence about getting one, so it’s interesting to see so many people saying it’s normal. The ozone-like thing is what I was wondering about too, since I’ve read mixed stuff online. Does it ever get stronger the more you use it, or does it stay pretty consistent?
21 de July de 2026 at 15:47 #5652
KhanMemberI think it’s probably just part of how these things work. I’d probably just run it and not think too much about it unless it gets way stronger.

Linda RobinsonMemberI’ve noticed the same faint smell with mine. I just run it and walk out, by the time I come back it’s pretty much gone. Not something I really worry about.
