MemberBought a Qinux BarkBuz and used it around the house for a few days. It seems to calm barking sometimes but our dog still barks at the window and it didn’t always trigger. Anyone else find it gets better after a week or do dogs just tune it out? Not sure if I’m on the right setting or if this is just a training thing.

emily_rParticipantI wouldn’t make a big deal of a few days. These devices can be hit or miss and some dogs do tune them out, so not surprising it isn’t perfect yet. If I were using one I’d put it in the entryway or near the patio where most triggers happen and see if that cuts down the repeat incidents.

MemberInstructions were pretty skimpy so I just guessed the settings for a few days, maybe that’s why it felt hit-or-miss.

techguy22ParticipantPractical tip: aim the BarkBuz at the window and keep it unobstructed, line-of-sight helps it detect barks more reliably. Try the middle ultrasonic level first, usually enough to interrupt without blasting it constantly.

JSmithParticipantI’d give it a week, try a couple of different settings and see if your dog stops reacting or just ignores it. If it’s still spotty after that I’d return it or put the money toward a different training method. Not worth hanging on to if it’s inconsistent.

L_ParkerMemberI’d keep it. Seems like a decent, non-invasive aid even if it doesn’t solve everything. Not totally sure dogs won’t tune it out, but it does calm things down sometimes.

Matt__MemberMine was pretty disappointing, it often didn’t react and after a few days my dog just ignored it. Felt useless when she barked at other dogs outside. Won’t be relying on it long-term.

MemberThanks for all the replies, nice to get different takes. Not convinced it’s a miracle fix though, sounds a bit hit-or-miss. Closing the thread.

MemberI fiddled with the settings a bit myself and it seemed to work better after I stopped expecting it to catch every single bark. Could just be the dog getting used to the noise, hard to tell.
