MemberJust got the Melara Air yesterday and it feels a lot firmer than I expected. I know memory foam usually needs some break-in time, but I’m wondering if this is normal or if the pillow is just not for me. Not complaining yet, just checking if others found it softened up after a few nights.

MemberI remember mine feeling pretty stiff straight out of the box too. It took maybe four or five nights before it felt like it actually molded to my head. Not totally sure if it gets super soft, but it definitely relaxed a bit after the first week. Still works fine for me now.

MemberI think that’s just how they come. Mine felt way too stiff at first too but it settled in after a few nights.

MemberMine felt like a rock the first night too. Gave it about a week and it loosened up enough to actually contour the way I wanted. I’d give it a few more nights before deciding.

MemberMine felt the same way at first but I wouldn’t say it softened up that much after a week. It’s still on the firmer side compared to other memory foam pillows I’ve used. Honestly I kind of got used to it after a few nights and now it doesn’t bother me. Might just be how it is.

MemberI gave mine a few nights and it settled in. Still on the firmer side but that’s what I wanted for support.

Chris MillerMemberI kind of noticed the same thing, but honestly I wasn’t sure if it was just me. It still feels a bit stiffer than what I’d call soft, but maybe it’s just how the shape is supposed to work.

Susan KennetMemberI remember that initial firmness surprised me too, but after about a week it settled into something more comfortable without going completely soft. For me it ended up being a decent balance, though I can see why someone might find it too stiff if they prefer a really plush pillow.

Mike TurnerMemberMine was pretty firm out of the box too. I gave it about a week and it softened up a bit, but it’s still on the supportive side. If you wanted a sink-in soft pillow, this probably isn’t it. Works fine for me as a side sleeper though.

Tom BriggsMemberIt’ll probably soften a bit, but I wouldn’t expect a huge change. I kind of prefer it firmer anyway, so it didn’t bother me.

MemberI think that initial firmness is pretty normal for memory foam pillows like this. Mine felt a bit like a brick the first night but loosened up just enough to be comfortable after a few days. If you’re a side sleeper it might actually work out better once you give it a chance.

MemberFirm is the whole point of these ergo pillows. If you wanted soft you bought the wrong thing.

MemberI noticed the same thing when I first got mine. It did soften up a little after a few nights but never got super plush or anything. Still feels fine for support though, just not what I’d call soft.
