I had one of those cheap plug-in ultrasonic repellers before, and it seemed to work okay for a while but then the animals got used to it. I picked up the Qinux FelinStop since it’s solar and has that LED light. Does the light actually make a difference for keeping animals away at night, or is it just there to look fancy?

I haven’t used mine long enough at night to really tell if the LED does much, but I kinda like that it glows. Makes it easier to spot where I stuck it in the garden.

I’m actually liking the light so far, not sure if it’s the main thing scaring animals off or just a bonus, but it seems to help keep things quieter at night than my old plug-in unit ever did. The flashing might just be enough to make them think twice before wandering too close.

The LED probably helps a bit with nocturnal animals, but honestly I wouldn’t count on it being a game changer.

I’d just position it where the light hits the area you want to protect and see if it makes a difference.

Mine seems to keep things away fine, but I’m not losing sleep over whether it’s the light or the noise doing the work.

I’ve got mine pointed at a spot where stray cats like to hang out and the light is on all night. Not sure if it’s the ultrasonic or the LED doing the work, but something’s keeping them away.

I get what you mean about the LED. I was wondering the same thing when I got mine. I think it probably adds a little extra deterrence for night animals since they don’t love sudden lights, but I wouldn’t say it’s the main feature. The solar charging is nice though, no cords to deal with.

I get the curiosity about the LED, but honestly I wouldn’t overthink it. Even if it’s just a small extra visual deterrent at night, it’s not like it hurts anything, and the solar charging means you’re not losing anything by having it on. I’d just set it up and see how it goes.

I wouldn’t overthink the light. It’s probably just a bonus, not the main feature. If it helps a bit at night, fine, but I’d rely more on the ultrasonic part doing the work.

Honestly, I mostly just like that the LED makes it easier to see where the thing is in the yard at night. Saves me from tripping over it, so that alone is a win in my book.

Mine’s been running for a few weeks and the animals seem to steer clear, so the ultrasonic is doing its job fine. The light is just a nice bonus for me.

I had the same thought when I got mine, but honestly the light is probably more for visibility than anything else. It’s not gonna scare off a raccoon by itself, but if the ultrasonic part is actually working, the light might help keep them from getting too comfortable. I’d say the solar charging is the bigger selling point, not the LED.

From what I’ve seen, the LED is more about making the unit visible at night than actually scaring animals. I wouldn’t count on it doing much beyond that.

Got it, thanks for the replies. Sounds like the light is more of a convenience thing than a game changer, which is fine by me. I’ll stop overthinking it and just see how it goes in the yard.

I would skip relying on the light to do any of the heavy lifting. It might catch a raccoon’s eye for a second, but the sound is what actually makes them leave. For me, the light is just a nice extra for spotting the unit in the dark, so I would treat it as that and not expect more.
