MemberI’ve got a WaveMax on my main TV and it picks up fine. If I grab another one for the bedroom, will they interfere with each other? I don’t want to mess up the signal I already have.

MemberTwo antennas usually fight over the same tuner, not worth it.

Emma JarrisMemberI have two set up in different rooms and they’ve been totally fine together. No weird interference or anything like that. Just scan for channels on the new one after you hook it up and you should be good.

MemberTwo of them in one house is totally normal, they’re just separate antennas picking up the same broadcasts. I ran one on the living room TV and another in the basement for a couple years and they never stepped on each other. So the one you’ve already got should be fine.

Mike ReynoldsMemberTwo of these in one house won’t mess with each other, they’re not talking to each other. The only thing that matters is where you stick the second one. If your main TV already pulls everything in fine, the bedroom one just needs its own spot near a window and a fresh scan.

MemberI’d actually try it before buying a second one. Not saying it’ll definitely cause problems, but in my place adding a second antenna upstairs did mess with things a bit. The new one pulled in a couple channels the old one had been getting fine, and I ended up fiddling with both to get them settled. Took an afternoon of moving them around, which I didn’t expect going in.
If I were you I’d grab one from somewhere with an easy return, hook it up in the bedroom, and just watch your main TV for a few days to see if anything drops out. If your signal is already strong and stable you might not notice a thing. Mine was borderline to begin with, so the second one kind of tipped it.
The other thing is placement matters more than people admit. Putting the bedroom one on an outside wall near a window helped a lot and stopped the two from stepping on each other. When I first had them both near the middle of the house they were fighting more.
So yeah, I’d do it, just keep the receipt handy and don’t assume it’ll be plug and play like the first one was.

MemberI ran into something a little different when I added a second antenna in my place. The first one was on the main TV in the front room and worked great. When I put the second one back in the bedroom, the picture on the main TV actually got a little choppy for a day or two. Not terrible, but enough that I noticed. I ended up moving the bedroom one to a different wall and it cleared up. So it wasn’t the antennas fighting each other exactly, more like the new one was sitting in a spot that messed with the signal flow somehow. Once I found a better corner for it, both have been fine for months. My advice would just be to try the second one in a few different spots before you settle on where it lives. If the main TV starts acting up, you’ll know pretty quick.

MemberI don’t think adding a second one is as harmless as people make it sound. When I put a second antenna in another room, the channel scan on that TV kept dropping a couple of channels that came in fine before. Could just be my setup, but I’d test one before committing.

MemberI ended up in a similar spot last year. Had a WaveMax running on the living room TV for a few months and it was pulling in everything I cared about, so I grabbed a second one for the spare room mostly so I could watch the morning news while getting ready. I set the new one up on a little shelf near the window, scanned channels like normal, and honestly both have just kept working. The living room one didn’t change at all from what I could tell. Same channels, same picture, no weird dropouts or anything.
What I noticed more than anything was that placement on the second one mattered a lot more than the fact that there were now two antennas in the house. My first try in the spare room was kind of tucked behind the TV and it was pretty lousy, so I moved it closer to the window and it cleaned right up. But it never affected the main TV at all during that whole process, even when I was messing with the second one.
So from my own experience it’s been a non issue. I’ve had both running at the same time plenty of evenings, one in each room, and they just do their thing separately. I think the only real variable is where you put the new one in the room.

MemberI don’t buy that a second one is automatically harmless. My brother had two set up at his place and the picture on the original TV got choppy after he added the second one. Took him a while to figure out that was the cause.

MemberThese antennas don’t talk to each other so the second one shouldn’t wreck the first. Signal stuff can get weird depending on your house but that’s more about placement than the units fighting. I’d just grab it and see.

Rachel ColeMemberTwo of these in my parents’ house worked fine for about six months, then one started dropping channels after they rearranged the furniture. Turned out moving it a few feet was enough to fix it, no interference between the two units.

MemberI actually don’t think two of these are automatically going to play nice, and I’d push back a bit on the idea that antennas just ignore each other. Yeah, they’re not talking to one another, but you’ve still got two pieces of metal sitting in the same house reacting to the same broadcast signals, and depending on where you put the second one, the signal bouncing around your walls can shift. I’ve seen it happen with a cheap pair I had a few years back. The newer one was fine, but the older TV started losing a couple of channels it had always held, and it went back to normal once I moved the second one to a totally different corner. Not saying yours will do that, but “they can’t interfere” isn’t really true in my experience. Placement matters more than people give it credit for.

HanSoloParticipantAdding a second one is not just a signal thing. If both TVs are on the same circuit you might get some weird electrical noise, but I’ve seen it work fine more often than not. Just try it and see.

Laura ReadsMemberWe have two of these in our house and they’ve never messed with each other. One is in the living room and the other is upstairs in my son’s room, and both have been running since around last spring. The only thing I noticed is that when we first hooked up the second one, I had to rescan channels on the new TV a couple times before it found everything. The original TV didn’t change at all though. Same channels, same picture. I think as long as you’re not putting them right next to each other you’re fine. Ours are on opposite ends of the house so maybe that helps. I’m not really a tech person so I can’t explain why it works, just that it does for us. Good luck with the bedroom setup, it’s nice having the extra TV.

MemberI’d just get the second one and try it in the bedroom before deciding anything permanent. If the picture gets weird I’d move it a few feet and rescan, but that’s about all I’d do. Mine has been fine in two spots, so I don’t see why it would suddenly mess up the main TV.

MemberFine, I’ll just grab one and see what happens.
