I usually just use a small pair of scissors for nose hair, but I keep hearing about the MrBold Pro. Is it actually faster for a quick touch-up when you’re in a rush? I don’t want to deal with something that takes longer than just snipping a few hairs. Also, does it work okay if you only use it once a week or so?

    Scissors still faster for me.

Scissors being faster is one of those things that sounds true until you actually time it. I used to keep a little pair in the bathroom cabinet for exactly that reason, quick swipe before heading out. Problem was I’d always miss a few because you can’t really see what you’re doing up there, so I’d end up going back for a second pass, then a third. That’s what actually ate the time.

Got one of these rotary trimmers last year, different brand but same idea. Once a week is basically how I use it, Sunday night usually, takes maybe fifteen seconds. You just poke it in and move it around a bit. The thing that sold me is you don’t have to aim. With scissors you need a steady hand and decent lighting and a mirror angle that doesn’t make you look like you’re trying to solve a puzzle.

Battery thing is the only real annoyance. Mine sat in a drawer for a couple months, I grabbed it in a hurry and it was dead, so I had to fall back on the scissors anyway. Charge it every few weeks and you’re fine, forget and you’re not.

Weekly use isn’t going to wear it out fast, that’s nothing for a motor. Whether it beats scissors for you depends on how good you are with the scissors. I wasn’t.

Once a week is fine, mine sits for longer than that sometimes and still works. It is quicker for me than scissors because you just poke it in and go, no angle hunting. Only thing is you need to keep the head clean or it starts pulling a bit.

I tried one of those rotary trimmers and honestly went back to scissors because the motor felt slower than just grabbing a few hairs. Mine also pulled a bit if I skipped a couple weeks. Might just be me though.

Mine mostly lives in a drawer and gets used maybe once every week or two. It still fires up fine and the battery hasn’t been an issue, so the occasional use thing isn’t a problem. Where I’d push back on the “faster” idea is that it depends on what you’re actually doing. If there’s one random hair poking out, scissors are still quicker because you just grab and snip. The MrBold makes more sense when there’s a bunch of stuff going on in there and you want to clear it out without chasing individual hairs around. The part I like is not having to be careful near the skin, which is the main reason I stopped using scissors regularly. It’s not some huge time saver though. It’s just less annoying.

I still grab the scissors for a stray hair here and there, but for a full once over the MrBold is quicker for me. I only use mine every week or two and it has been fine.

Scissors are still faster if you’re just grabbing one or two hairs. The MrBold is quicker when there’s a full mess to deal with, not for a two second touch up. Mine sits for weeks between uses and still works fine, so once a week is nothing.

I actually prefer a trimmer for touch-ups because I never get the angle right with scissors and end up missing half the hairs. Mine takes like ten seconds and I don’t have to squint in the mirror. Once a week is plenty for me, no issues with it sitting between uses.

The speed thing depends on what you mean by quick touch-up. If I’ve got one or two obvious hairs poking out and I’m already running late, I’m still grabbing the scissors. That’s a five second job and I can see exactly what I’m doing. The trimmer is faster when there’s a bunch of stuff going on and I’d otherwise be chasing hairs around with the scissors for a couple minutes.

Once a week is nothing to worry about. Mine gets used way less consistently than that and it still does its thing. It’s not like these things need some kind of daily routine to function. I’ve gone a few weeks without touching it and it came back fine.

The part I’d actually pay attention to is whether you like the whole poke it in and let it spin approach. Some people find that weird and go back to scissors. Nothing wrong with either one, but if you’re happy with scissors for stray hairs, the trimmer isn’t magically better for that specific situation.

Scissors are way slower for me, I always nick myself.

Mine actually takes a bit longer than scissors if I’m being real. By the time I dig it out of the drawer and turn it on, I could’ve already snipped the one hair bugging me. It’s nice for a full clean up though, I’ll give it that.

Scissors are still my go-to for a single hair, so I don’t think the MrBold wins on pure speed there. Where it beats them is not having to aim, since I just poke it in and it grabs whatever’s there. Once a week works fine for me, the battery hasn’t been an issue at all.

Once a week is plenty, it stays charged forever.

I only use mine about once a week too and it’s been fine. I keep it in the bathroom drawer, grab it Sunday nights, quick pass around each nostril, done. Charge lasts me weeks that way. The part I actually like is not having to aim at individual hairs like I did with scissors. You just sort of move it around in a circle and it catches whatever’s there. That said, if you’re literally sprinting out the door with one hair sticking out, scissors are still going to be faster because there’s no turning on, no rinsing after. The MrBold wins for me on the weekly tidy up, not the emergency single hair situation.

Alright, I’ll probably just grab one and see.
