Got the Baseus Enerfill a couple days ago. Using the USB-C ports is fine, charges my laptop quick. But plugging an older phone into the USB-A port seems noticeably slower than the old 18W brick I had. Is that just how it is with this charger, or am I missing something with the cable?
Not sure what phone you’ve got, but some older ones don’t pull as much from USB-A on these multi-port chargers. I had a similar thing with an old Galaxy, it just topped out lower than the brick did. Maybe try a different cable if you have one lying around, sometimes that helps.
It’s been fine for me with an old Galaxy I keep around. Maybe your phone just doesn’t want to play nice with that port.
USB-A ports are usually a bit slower on these multi port chargers when you’re using the other ports too. If it’s just the A port by itself though, could be the cable or your phone just not pulling the right protocol. Works fine for my older stuff.
I noticed the same thing at first but I think it depends on what else is plugged in. When I have just the USB-A port active by itself it seems fine for my older devices. Could be the charger is splitting the power differently than your old brick did.
I actually haven’t noticed that issue with mine. The USB-A port seems fine when I use it alone for my older phone, honestly feels similar to my old brick. Maybe try a different cable?
Huh, I was actually thinking about getting one of these for travel. I kinda figured the USB-A port would just be a bonus port for slower stuff while the real speed is on the USB-C side. Probably not a huge deal if your main use is the laptop charging.
I haven’t really tested the USB-A port much on mine, but I just assumed it wouldn’t be as fast as a dedicated brick. It’s probably more of a convenience port for topping off stuff while the main ports do the heavy lifting. Could also be the cable if it’s really old or doesn’t support the same standard.
That USB-A port on mine works fine for my older phone, not as fast as the USB-C but still decent enough. Honestly I wouldn’t worry too much about it unless you’re timing it.
Could be the cable. Some older USB-A cables don’t play well with the fast charging protocols on these newer GaN chargers. I’ve noticed the same thing with mine until I switched to a different cable.
