Lisa HydrowMemberThinking about getting a WellHeater for my bedroom since it gets pretty chilly in there. I know it says it heats rooms in around 5 minutes but that seems fast. Just wondering if it actually feels warm quickly or if I should expect to wait longer. I don’t need anything fancy, just something to take the chill off before bed. Anyone have a realistic idea of how fast it works?

MemberI get why the 5 minute thing sounds like a stretch, but it’s not as off as it sounds if you’re talking about a small bedroom and you’re sitting close to it. Mine puts out noticeable heat pretty much right after I turn it on, and the room itself feels less chilly within maybe 10 or 15 minutes, not 5. That said, I wouldn’t expect the whole room to feel evenly toasty that fast, more like the area around the heater warms up and then it slowly spreads. For taking the chill off before bed, I think it works fine. I usually turn mine on while I’m getting ready for bed and by the time I get in, the room is comfortable enough. It’s not going to feel like central heating blasting through the whole house, but for a bedroom it does the job without much fuss.

MemberFive minutes for a whole room felt warm seems optimistic to me. I’d expect it to feel warm near the unit pretty quick, but the rest of the room takes longer. Small bedroom probably fine, but I wouldn’t count on that exact number.

MemberFive minutes feels more like a personal space thing than the whole room warming up evenly. I don’t think the fast claim is wrong, it’s just that “room” means different things to different people. If you’re mainly trying to take the chill off right before bed, that’s probably fine.

Mar__kusMemberMine warms up my office fast enough that I stopped noticing the wait. The heat is noticeable within a couple minutes if you’re sitting near it, and the rest of the room catches up soon after. It’s not instant, but it’s quick for the size.

MemberMost of the “5 minute” claims are about feeling heat on you, not the whole room hitting some temp. Mine takes closer to 15 or 20 minutes before the chill is actually gone from the air.

MemberFive minutes is the number they put on the box, not what you’ll actually get. Mine takes closer to ten before the chill is gone, and that’s a tiny room with the door shut. It does kick out heat right away if you’re sitting close, so it’s fine for warming up before bed, just don’t expect the whole room to feel toasty that fast.

MemberMine actually did take about 5 minutes to take the edge off my bedroom, so I don’t think that number is total nonsense. It wasn’t toasty in there or anything, but the chill was gone by the time I got into bed.

MemberI got mine for a similar reason and it did surprise me how quick the heat shows up. The room itself wasn’t warm in five minutes, but the chill was gone by the time I got into bed, which is really all I wanted.

Owen21MemberFive minutes is what the box says. Mine gets the chill off if I’m sitting right next to it, but the rest of the room doesn’t catch up for a lot longer than that. If you want it warm before bed, turn it on early instead of expecting instant results.

MemberMine actually took longer than that the first time, probably closer to 15 minutes before I stopped feeling cold. After that it seemed quicker on later uses, maybe because the room wasn’t starting out as chilly. If your bedroom gets really cold, I’d plan on more than 5 minutes.

MemberI actually think the 5 minute thing is overblown. Mine never felt warm that fast, more like 20 minutes before the room temperature moved at all. It still works fine, just not as quick as the box suggests.

MemberMine warmed up in about two minutes, not five.

MemberFive minutes is optimistic. Mine takes closer to ten before I notice anything, and that’s with the door shut. Once it gets going it’s fine, but the box number is just marketing.

MemberMine seems to hit its stride after the first cycle shuts off, not right when I plug it in. I usually turn it on, go brush my teeth, and by the time I come back the area around my chair feels different. The whole room catching up is a slower thing. I had a little desk fan heater before this one and that thing was loud but instant. The WellHeater is way quieter, which I care about more than the five minute claim. I never timed it with a clock or anything. It just stopped mattering to me after a week of using it the same way every night. If you’re expecting the whole bedroom to feel toasty right away you’ll probably be disappointed, but if you just want the chill knocked off you while you’re winding down, it does that fine.

Emma__LMemberFive minutes seems way off to me. I’d plan on it taking closer to half an hour before the whole room actually feels different, not just the spot right in front of it. If you’re just trying to take the chill off before bed though, that’s probably fine.
28 de September de 2026 at 06:01 #13297
Dani MoonMemberI care more about whether it keeps the chill off while I’m sitting there than how fast the whole room hits some number. For that it’s been fine. If you’re expecting actual room heating in five minutes you’ll be disappointed, but as a personal warmer it does the job.

Lisa HydrowMemberThanks for all the input, good to know it’s not just me wondering about that five minute claim. Sounds like it varies a lot depending on the room, so I’ll just grab one and see how it goes in my bedroom. Appreciate everyone sharing their experiences!
