MemberI’m thinking about getting the Vital Shoulder Massager but the rechargeable battery thing has me wondering. How many sessions do you get before it dies? I don’t want to be stuck with a dead unit halfway through the day. Just seems like a hassle if it needs charging all the time.

MemberProbably 3 or 4 sessions before it needs a charge.

MemberI’d just plug it in every night like a phone and not think about it much. If you’re doing a 12 minute session here and there it should be fine for a day of use. Mine sits on the charger when I’m not wearing it, so I’ve never actually run it flat mid-session.

MemberI have one and mine lasts a bit longer than that, but it depends on how much heat I’m using. The heat setting eats the battery way faster than just the vibration part. If I leave heat on the whole 12 minutes I get maybe 4 sessions tops before the light starts blinking at me. If I skip heat and just do vibration I can stretch it out more.
The thing that actually bugs me is there’s no warning before it just shuts off. It’ll be going fine and then dead. So if you’re planning to use it away from an outlet all day that could be annoying. For me it lives on my desk at home so I just charge it when I think about it and it’s fine. I wouldn’t count on it lasting a full workday if you’re using it a lot though.

MemberI actually get way less than that on mine. I used it on the couch during a movie night and it was dead before the movie even ended, which kind of surprised me.

MemberThat seems low to me. I’ve never had mine die in the middle of using it and I’ve done several sessions back to back on a lazy Sunday. Maybe some units just have weaker batteries.

MemberMine started losing charge a lot faster after about six months of regular use. It still works fine for a session or two but I definitely notice it needs more charging now than when it was new.

Ryan__TMemberBattery life claims on these things are always inflated. I’d assume you get less than advertised and plan around that instead of expecting a full day of use. If you’re near an outlet most of the time, it’s not a big deal.

coffeeandscreensParticipantI grabbed one mainly for desk use and the battery is just okay. It gets me through a couple of sessions in an afternoon but I still keep the charger nearby, mostly out of habit. Not a dealbreaker for me but it’s not something I’d count on all day.

Zoe MatthewsMemberThe battery thing was my main concern too before I got mine. I had a cheap shoulder massager years ago that died constantly and it put me off cordless stuff for a while.
For what it’s worth, mine has been fine for my routine. I usually do one session when I get home from work, sometimes a second one later if my shoulders are tight. I’ve never had it quit mid session. I just drop it on the charger overnight and it’s ready the next day. That’s been my pattern for a few months now and it hasn’t annoyed me once.
I think the people who run into trouble are the ones trying to use it all day long. It’s not really built for that. It’s a 12 minute session kind of thing, then you take it off and go do something else. If you treat it like that, the battery is a non issue. If you expect to wear it for hours while you work, yeah, you’ll probably be disappointed.
My wife uses hers while watching TV and she does two or three rounds back to back sometimes. Hers has held up fine doing that. So it really just comes down to how you plan to use it. For normal daily use, I don’t think the battery is a problem at all.

MemberMine actually lasts longer than I expected.

MemberFor me the dealbreaker would be if it only works while plugged in, and it doesn’t, so I’m fine with it. I actually prefer keeping mine on the charger stand between uses rather than trying to stretch a charge across multiple days. That habit alone means I’ve never once run out mid-session, even on days where I use it more than usual. I know some people want to take it traveling and not deal with a charger, and that’s a different situation. My routine is pretty much home only, so it just goes back on the stand when I’m done and it’s ready whenever I grab it. I’d rather do that than babysit the battery percentage. So the battery life question kind of stops mattering for me personally. If you’re the type who leaves things unplugged for a week, that’s where it might get annoying.

MemberI’ve had mine since around the start of summer and the battery has been pretty steady for me. I usually do one 12 minute session after work and maybe another one on weekends if my shoulders are tight from gardening or whatever. Charging it every few days has been enough, so it’s not something I think about much. The cordless part is what sold me because I can walk around the kitchen while it’s running instead of being stuck near an outlet. I did notice that if I bump the heat and intensity up high it drains quicker, but that seems normal for anything with a battery. Mine has never died mid session yet, though I also just plug it in when I see the light change. For how I use it that setup works fine.
