Heater Pro X on a desk, does it actually warm you up?

I’m thinking about getting a Heater Pro X for my home office since my feet are always cold. The thing is, I see people saying it’s great for personal heating but I’m not sure if it really makes a difference when you’re sitting right next to it. I don’t expect it to heat the whole room, but I’d like to feel some warmth without waiting forever. Anyone use one on a desk or right beside them? Just wondering if it’s actually noticeable or if it’s more of a gentle breeze.

I wouldn’t put one on a desk expecting it to warm your actual body much. For cold feet specifically, I’d get a little floor heater aimed at my legs instead, since heat rises and anything sitting up on the desk just floats past your face. That’s just me though.

Mine actually warms my hands fine at that distance.

I had something similar happen with a little plug-in heater last winter, though mine was a different brand. My setup was a bit odd because I actually had it on the floor next to my chair rather than up on the desk. I figured if I aimed it at my legs it might help more than sitting on the desk blowing at my face. What I noticed was that it did warm up my lower half pretty quickly, like within a couple of minutes I could feel it on my shins and feet. But it was very much a “you need to be in the path of it” kind of thing. If I leaned back or shifted to the side, the warmth basically disappeared and it felt like nothing was running.

The other thing I learned is that it didn’t really change the overall feel of the room at all. My hands would still get cold when I was typing because they weren’t in the direct line of the air. So for me it ended up being more of a targeted thing for whatever body part was closest to it. I kept using it for a few weeks but eventually just went back to wearing thick socks and a blanket over my lap, which honestly worked about as well without the noise. I don’t think it was a waste exactly, but I did expect a bit more of an ambient effect than I got. If your main issue is cold feet specifically, having it low and pointed right at them is probably the way to go, but don’t count on it warming your whole workspace.

I’ve used mine on a desk for a few weeks and it does throw noticeable warmth at my hands and face, not just a cool breeze. My feet still stay cold though, so I ended up pointing it down at an angle. It’s decent for that close-up comfort, just don’t expect the whole room to feel different.

I think the “does it warm YOU up” part depends a lot on how close you actually keep it. My setup is a bit different since I have a small desk fan style heater on a side table, but the principle is the same: at arm’s length it’s a noticeable warm stream, and if I lean back even a couple feet it basically disappears. So it’s less about the room and more about staying in the little pocket of heat. That’s fine for me because I mostly want my hands and face warm while typing, but it’s not like sitting in front of a fireplace.

One thing I noticed is the warmth feels stronger the first few minutes and then kind of plateaus, which I guess is just how these small heaters run. Still, for a home office where you’re planted in one spot, I’d say it’s worth it if you’re okay with the whole thing being a “you have to be near it” situation.

I keep seeing people say these are only good right up close and honestly that matches what I want anyway, I don’t need my whole office warm. My only thing is whether the fan noise would bug me while I’m on calls, that’s the part I’m stuck on.

Mine warms my hands way faster than I expected.

I’ve got mine sitting on a little side table next to my chair and it does actually warm me up. The catch is I only really feel it when it’s aimed right at me, so placement matters more than I expected.

Mine sits on the corner of my desk and I definitely feel it on my arms and chest within a minute or two, way better than I expected for something that size. It won’t do anything for the room itself, but that’s not what I bought it for anyway.

Mine mostly warms whatever it’s pointed at, so my face gets toasty while my feet stay cold. If cold feet are the actual problem, a desk heater isn’t going to fix that for you.

It’s noticeable if it’s pointed right at you.

Mine is on a shelf beside my monitor and I feel it on my legs within a couple minutes. It’s not a whole-room thing but that’s fine for me.

I tried a similar plug-in heater and it warmed my hands but my feet stayed cold since heat rises. If your feet are the issue, point it at the floor or skip it. Otherwise it’s just a warm face and cold toes situation.
