MemberI’m thinking about getting a Qinux WarmPro for my bedroom since it gets pretty cold at night. The automatic shutoff features sound good, but I’m still a bit paranoid about plug-in heaters in general. Do any of you leave it plugged in while you sleep, or do you always unplug it after use? Just wondering if that’s a normal thing to do with this one.

Rob CMemberMine’s been plugged in every night since January. It’s a wall plug heater, unplugging it constantly kind of defeats the point.

Daniele RossiMemberThe paranoia about plug-in heaters is a bit overblown. I’ve had mine on overnight in my office for about three months now, and the shutoff safety features actually work. If it tips or gets too hot, it just cuts out. That said, I wouldn’t put it on a carpet or near curtains.

MemberI’m still on the fence about getting one for my own room, so this thread is useful. My sister has a similar plug-in heater and she only runs it while she’s awake, mostly because she forgets to unplug stuff otherwise. That said, the auto shutoff is the part that actually matters to me.

MemberUnplugging every morning just sounds annoying, I’d probably forget.

MemberI leave mine plugged in all night, no issues so far.

Tom W98MemberIf it’s in a bedroom, I’d still unplug the thing when I’m not awake to keep an eye on it. The auto shutoff is nice on paper, but I don’t trust a cheap plug-in heater to babysit itself while I’m unconscious.

MemberMine stays plugged into the outlet, but I flip the switch off before bed. The plug itself never comes out unless I’m moving it to another room. That seems like a decent middle ground if you don’t want to yank it every morning.

MemberThe overheating shutoff is the one thing I’d actually trust on these little plug-in units. I’ve been around enough of them over the years, and the ones that failed were the old cheap ones without any sensor in them. Anything built in the last decade cuts out when it gets too hot, that part isn’t really the risk.
My take is the plug and cord matter way more than the heater itself. Most people I know who had a scare had it at the outlet, not the unit. Old loose socket, extension cord, that kind of thing. Plug it straight into the wall and you’ve eliminated most of the drama.
So unplugging every night doesn’t buy you a whole lot honestly. I’d still switch it off before bed just because I don’t like hearing the fan, but that’s a noise thing, not a safety thing.

Zoe MatthewsMemberI’ve been running mine through the night for about three weeks now, still plugged in come morning. The auto shutoff hasn’t kicked in once, which I guess is good. I don’t unplug it, just turn the dial down if I get too warm.

MemberLeaving it plugged in overnight is pretty standard for these things. I keep mine in all the time and just use the switch on the unit when I want it on or off. The plug stays in the wall.

MemberI’ve had mine for a couple months and I unplug it in the morning, but that’s mostly habit from living in old places with sketchy wiring. The unit itself has never felt hot at the plug or anything. Whether it’s “normal” to leave it in, no clue, but I don’t think you’d be the only one doing it.

Ryan__TMemberI don’t own this one but my rule with any plug-in heater is it comes out of the outlet when I’m asleep. Auto shutoff is a backup, not something I’d build a sleep habit around. That said, I get why people leave them in.

MemberI’ve had mine plugged into the same outlet since I got it back in like October and honestly the only time it comes out is when I dust behind the nightstand. I get the paranoia though, I used to be the same way with a little ceramic heater years ago. What changed for me is I started paying more attention to the outlet itself rather than the heater. Like if the plug feels warm when I touch it or the outlet is loose, that’s my cue to stop using that spot. The WarmPro plug stays cool on mine even after running a few hours. I don’t really think about it overnight anymore. Curious though, is your bedroom outlet older or one of those newer ones? That would probably matter more to me than the heater itself.

MemberMine stays plugged in, the auto shutoff has been solid so far.

MemberNot sure unplugging really changes much if it’s switched off at the unit. Mine’s been on the same outlet since winter started, and the only thing I actually do is hit the button before bed. The cord stays put.

MemberI’ve been running mine plugged in every night since around November and it’s been fine. I know that’s not the answer everyone wants, but it’s what I actually do. It sits on the nightstand, I turn it on before bed, and it shuts off on its own once the room warms up. In the morning I just leave it alone. The plug stays in the whole time.
What changed my mind was actually a dumb accident. I knocked it off the nightstand one night reaching for my phone. It cut off immediately when it tipped. That was the thing I was most worried about, more than the overnight part. After that I stopped treating it like it was going to burn the house down.
The one thing I do pay attention to is the outlet itself. I had it in a loose old outlet in my last apartment and it felt warm around the plug, so I moved it to a different wall. That was probably the outlet more than the heater, but it stuck with me.
So for me, plugged in overnight is normal now. Not saying everyone has to do it, but it’s what I do and I haven’t had a reason to change it.

MemberI usually just flip the switch off on mine and leave it plugged in. The plug itself doesn’t seem to get warm or anything. I get the paranoia though, I was the same way the first week.

MemberAlright, I’ll just leave it plugged in then.
