Qinux Zindoggo collar size for a small dog?

Mine slid around on my 10 lb mix until I swapped it for a smaller strap. The tracker itself is the bulky part, not the collar, so “adjustable” only goes so far on a tiny neck.

I’d rather have a loose collar than a tight one on a small dog.

I’ve been using it on my 12 lb guy for a few months now and it stays put fine. The strap holds snug once you get it set right and it hasn’t rubbed him or anything. I toss it in my bag when we travel and it’s light enough that he forgets it’s on.

The tracker unit is what makes it look chunky, not the strap. On a 12 lb neck the weight is up top, so it can tilt forward a bit when they sniff around. Still stays put for me though.

I’ve noticed with my own dog that the width of the collar band matters way more than the weight of the tracker for small necks. A wider band can actually feel more stable because it spreads out instead of digging in at one spot, even if it looks bulkier in photos. The flip side is that a wider band sometimes rubs against the throat area on dogs with really slim necks, especially if it sits low. So I’d think about where it naturally rests on your terrier rather than just the overall size. Some dogs do fine with a chunkier look as long as the band isn’t stiff. If the material has any give to it, that helps a lot. It’s kind of one of those things you only know once it’s actually on the dog for a walk or two.

Depends what you mean by fit. Mine didn’t slide around much but the tracker puck on top made the whole thing feel bulky on my 11 lb guy, so I stopped using it for daily wear and just throw it on for hikes.

I don’t buy the whole “fits small dogs” line. My sister’s 11 lb rat terrier wore it for two walks and it was cockeyed the entire time, tracker pulling the whole thing sideways. If a collar can’t stay straight on a dog that size, it’s not a real fit. I’d rather keep a tiny tag on a plain nylon strap.

I put one on my parents’ 14 lb shih tzu mix for about three weeks while they were traveling, so I got a decent feel for it on a smaller neck. The width of the band itself wasn’t really the problem, it’s how the whole thing balances once that tracker sits up top. On a small dog the weight pulls the collar forward, so mine kept drifting toward the front of his neck even when I thought I had it snug enough. Not sliding all over the place, but definitely not staying centered either. He didn’t seem bothered by it though, no scratching or trying to paw it off, so comfort wise it was fine. Just depends if you care about it sitting perfectly straight, because on a small dog it probably won’t.

The size chart is the part people skip. I checked it before ordering for my 12 lb mix and the neck range on the smallest setting was still bigger than what she actually measures, so I never bought it. Everyone arguing about sliding and bulk is kind of missing that the collar might just be built around a bigger minimum. If your dog’s neck is under whatever the bottom of that range is, no amount of snugging the strap is going to fix the fit, and the tracker weight sitting on a loose collar is what makes it swing. So measure the neck first and compare it to the listed minimum, not to the photos. If it’s in range, fine. If it’s below, the chunky look in the pictures is probably telling you something real.
