MemberI’ve been using the Aptofit for a few weeks and it’s been fine for steps and sleep. But I’m not sure if I’m supposed to download a specific app for it or if I can just use any fitness app I already have. The manual didn’t really say much and I don’t want to mess up the tracking. Anyone know?

StanMemberMine wouldn’t sync with my usual app at all.

MemberI use whatever app came with my phone and it picked up the steps fine. The sleep stuff showed up in the Aptofit app though, not the other one. So it kinda depends what you’re trying to track.

emily_rParticipantI get why you’re asking, since the manual is pretty bare bones. From what I’ve noticed with mine, it doesn’t really lock you into one app, but it’s not fully open either. I tried linking it to a running app I already had and it only pulled basic step data, nothing else came through. So if you want the sleep and heart rate stuff to actually show up somewhere, you’ll probably need to stick with the Aptofit app for that.
The thing that bothers me a bit is the battery drains noticeably faster when I keep it paired to a second app, so I ended up just using the one it came with. It’s not amazing but it does the job for daily use. If you only care about steps, then sure, another app might pick those up fine. Just don’t expect everything to carry over.

Laura ReadsMemberIf I were buying one, I’d just check the app situation before ordering, since the listing doesn’t name a specific one. That’s the part that would bug me more than the tracking itself. My sister has a similar watch and hers only really works with the brand’s own app.

Owen21MemberAptofit doesn’t seem to care which app you use for the basics. Steps and heart rate fed into two different apps I tried without issue. Whether the sleep and blood oxygen data ever show up outside its own app is another story, and I don’t have a straight answer on that.

MemberAny app that connects is a minor miracle with these things.

MemberI’d just pick one app and stick with it instead of bouncing between a few. That was my mistake at first. I had the Aptofit app on my phone plus another tracker I’d been using, and having both open seemed to mess with things. Not the steps, those were fine either way. But the heart rate readings looked different depending on which app I checked, and I couldn’t tell which one was actually pulling from the watch. Once I deleted the extra one and let the Aptofit app handle everything, it was way less confusing. So if you already have a fitness app you like, I’d try that one first and see if the basics come through. If they don’t, then fall back to the Aptofit app. I don’t know if the sleep data ever makes it over to other apps though, that part never worked for me.

SarahMParticipantI think you do need their app for most of the health stuff. I tried skipping it with my sister’s watch and half the readings never showed up anywhere else. Steps synced fine, but that was about it.

MemberI’d just download whatever app the watch tells you to pair with and stick with that one. Mixing apps usually means half your data disappears. Not worth the hassle for a watch like this.

MemberAny fitness app does not work. I tried pairing mine with the app I already had and it just sat there not connecting. You need whatever app the watch actually points you to, otherwise you get steps on the watch screen and nothing else.
13 de September de 2026 at 12:30 #10945
Mike TurnerMemberJust grab the app the watch pushes you toward on first setup. The generic ones are hit or miss. I wouldn’t fight it.
13 de September de 2026 at 12:50 #10947
Rachel ColeMemberThe whole “you need their app” thing is overblown. I’ve been running mine through a third party app for about six weeks now and my steps and sleep sync fine. Heart rate is the only thing that’s spotty, but I never trusted that on a watch like this anyway. What I did notice is that if you don’t open whatever app you pick at least every couple of days, the watch just stops pushing data and you lose chunks of it. So it’s less about which app and more about actually opening it. The manual being useless is pretty standard for these. I wouldn’t bother switching apps at this point if the one you’ve got is already pulling your steps, that’s the main thing most people actually look at. The rest of it is questionable no matter what app you use.

MemberI don’t think it really matters which app you use as long as you’re consistent with one. I’ve had mine on the same app since I got it and the tracking has been pretty steady. Swapping around is where people seem to run into trouble.
13 de September de 2026 at 13:25 #10951Casey M.
MemberI don’t think one app is going to make or break it. Mine’s just connected to whatever I already had and the basic stuff still ticks over. If Aptofit wants a specific one you’d have seen it in the setup screens by now.
13 de September de 2026 at 13:41 #10952Riley1
MemberI’ve gone back and forth on this with a couple of cheap watches and the app situation is usually messier than people make it sound. With mine, I started on the app it came with, then got curious and tried syncing it to a different one I already had on my phone. The steps showed up but the sleep data just never made the jump, so I ended up with two apps showing two different versions of my day. That got old fast. I don’t think you’re going to break the watch by poking around, it just records stuff on its own and the app is more of a window into it. So if the manual is vague I’d say just try what you’ve got and see what actually pulls through. Worst case you delete the extra one.

MemberFigured it out, sticking with the app it came with.
