MemberI’ve been using the SleepZee for about a week now and I’m still getting used to the fit. It’s not bad, but I’m wondering if I should start adjusting the jaw position yet or give it more time. The instructions mention gradual adjustments but don’t really say when to start. Anyone know if there’s a general rule for this?

MemberA week’s too early, mine took closer to three.

techguy22ParticipantI started messing with the jaw position around day 10 and it worked out fine. Mine actually felt a bit tight the first few nights no matter what, so tweaking early helped me figure out where it was comfortable. Just go slow with it.

TommyWiresMemberForget the calendar, just go by feel. If the fit still bugs you after a week, tweaking the jaw position a bit now is fine, it’s not like there’s a magic number. I messed with mine pretty early and nothing bad happened.

MemberI gave mine a solid two weeks before touching the jaw position at all. My thinking was that the boil and bite part needs time to sort of settle in, and if you start cranking the jaw forward while your mouth is still getting used to the basic fit, it’s hard to tell what’s actually helping and what’s just new. Once I did start adjusting, I went really slow, like one small notch every few nights, mostly because I noticed my jaw was a little sore in the mornings if I pushed it too fast. The snoring side of things actually got better for me after that slow approach versus trying to rush it. So I’d say there’s no magic day, but giving it a bit more runway before you mess with the jaw setting worked out well on my end.

MemberI’d probably give it a few more days before touching the jaw position. I started adjusting mine right around the two week mark and that felt about right, the molding part really does need time to settle in.

MemberMine never really got comfortable until I stopped fiddling with it, so I mostly left the jaw part alone and just dealt with the weird feeling for a bit. It sorted itself out eventually.

northshoreParticipantI messed with the jaw setting after like five days because the whole thing was driving me nuts, and honestly nothing bad happened. It’s not some fragile thing you only get one shot at. If it’s still bugging you, just move it a little and see how the next night goes.

MemberA week is nothing. I gave mine close to a month before I even touched the jaw thing, mostly because I wanted to see if my mouth would just get used to it on its own. It didn’t really, but by then I at least knew what was actually bothering me versus what was just new.
The part nobody mentions is that moving the jaw forward can change how your bite feels the next morning. Mine was fine at first, then after I started cranking it forward I’d wake up with my front teeth feeling weird for an hour or so. Not painful, just off. That went away after a few days but it caught me off guard.
So if you’re going to adjust, I’d say change one thing at a time and give it a few nights before deciding anything. Bouncing around between settings every night is how you end up with no idea what’s actually working.

MemberI’m the opposite of the “leave it alone” crowd. I actually prefer to dial in the jaw position early because for me the fit feeling and the jaw position are kind of tied together. If the lower jaw isn’t sitting where it wants to sit, no amount of getting used to the mouthpiece is going to fix that weird strained feeling. I started nudging mine after maybe four or five nights, small moves, and it felt better almost right away. Not saying everyone should rush it, but my own preference is to get it close sooner rather than walk around for weeks with my jaw in a spot that doesn’t work for me. A week in seems like a fair point to at least try a small change and see how the next few nights go.

MemberA week is nothing. I say that as someone who actually started cranking the jaw forward around day four because I figured the worst that could happen was some soreness. It did not help. My jaw was aching by the morning and my snoring did not improve at all. So I backed it off and left it alone for almost a month before I touched that adjustment again.
That month was the useful part. The boil and bite part needs to settle and your mouth needs to stop noticing the thing is there before you can tell if a jaw change actually did anything. If you start moving it around while you are still getting used to the fit, you have no baseline. Everything feels weird so you cannot tell what is the fit and what is the jaw position.
The instructions being vague about timing is a real annoyance. They should just print a number instead of saying gradual. I would not touch the jaw setting until you have had a stretch of nights where the mouthpiece basically disappears and you are not thinking about it. For me that was somewhere around three weeks. Before that I was just guessing and making my jaw sore for nothing.
If your snoring is bad enough that a few more weeks sounds unbearable, that is a different problem, but changing the setting early did nothing for me except make the mornings unpleasant.

Owen21MemberA week is early, but waiting a month sounds excessive too. Mine got tighter after a couple weeks of nightly use, which changed the fit more than any adjustment I made. So I’d check whether the molding itself has settled before messing with the jaw position.

MemberA week is plenty. I adjusted mine after two nights because I couldn’t stand the pressure, and it didn’t break or anything. The jaw part isn’t some delicate calibration you have to baby. Just move it a little and see.
11 de September de 2026 at 03:58 #10574Tom_Craig
MemberWaiting a month is unnecessary. I started turning the screw on day three and kept going a notch every few nights until my snoring dropped off. The fit barely changed after the first week anyway, so all that waiting just means more nights of bad sleep.

Susan KennetMemberI wouldn’t use the jaw adjustment as the thing to wait on, at least not for a full month. Mine started feeling off around week two, and it turned out the molded part had loosened up, not the jaw setting. I remolded it and that fixed way more than fiddling with the screw would have.

MemberI think waiting until the fit feels totally “normal” first is backwards. The jaw position is the whole point, so if you leave it in the default spot for weeks you’re basically just getting used to the wrong setting. I’d start small adjustments sooner rather than later.

MemberThe instructions are vague for a reason, they can’t tell you when your jaw stops aching. I gave mine two weeks before touching anything, mainly because the morning soreness was the real issue, not the snoring. Adjusting a fit you haven’t settled into just makes it worse.
11 de September de 2026 at 05:15 #10584Riley Ash
MemberI’d give it a few more nights before messing with the jaw setting. Mine felt weird for the first week and a half, then settled in once I stopped thinking about it. If it still feels off after that, then start turning it slowly.
11 de September de 2026 at 05:45 #10587Sant_five
MemberI’d leave the jaw setting alone for another week or two and just focus on getting the fit comfortable first. Messing with the advancement too early is how people end up with sore mornings and give up on the thing. Get used to wearing it, then start turning.

L_ParkerMemberA week is way too early to lock anything in.
