Clima Pest Guard near a pet bowl?

I’d probably just move the bowl to another spot when the dog is eating and leave the trap running in the kitchen otherwise. The zap sound is pretty quick and not loud, but dogs are weird about stuff like that. My cat used to stare at the light but never actually got close enough to touch it.

I don’t have mine near the food anymore, but that’s only because my cat kept trying to nap next to it. The light doesn’t seem to bother them at all, and the occasional zap is so quick that they just look around for a second and go back to whatever they were doing. I think you’re fine leaving it where it is, the dog will probably ignore it completely after a day or two.

We’ve had ours running near the living room where the cat hangs out. She’ll sniff it occasionally but never stays close enough for it to be an issue. The zapping sound is more startling than anything else, and even that only happens when something actually flies into it. I figure if the dog isn’t messing with it, you’re probably fine.

Honestly I run mine in the mudroom where the dog sleeps and she has never once cared about the light or the noise. She’s old and mostly sleeps through everything, but even when she’s awake she doesn’t hover around it. The zap is more of a soft crackle anyway, not a loud snap that would startle her. I think the bigger thing is placement, like keep it off the floor and out of her direct sniffing range. The grid is exposed enough that I wouldn’t want her pressing her nose right up against it, but she’s never tried, so I don’t think it’s attractive to her at all. If your dog is the type that investigates every new thing, maybe run it on a shelf or counter out of reach for the first few days. Ours has been on for about three weeks now and the dog acts like it’s just part of the furniture.

My dog basically ignores ours unless something gets zapped, then she perks up for a second and goes back to whatever she was doing. She’s never tried to sniff it or get close to the grid while it’s active. I wouldn’t park it right next to the bowl just because of the noise factor while she eats, but a few feet away seems totally fine.

I wouldn’t lose sleep over it, but if your dog is the type to stare at lights or paw at things, just keep an eye on her the first day. They usually figure out it’s not a toy pretty fast.

Mine sits on the counter above her water bowl and she sleeps right under it every night.

Mine sits near the hallway baseboard, which is close enough to where the cat eats. She’s a jumper, so I was more worried about her batting it off the shelf than the actual zap. That thing is cordless and light, so it wouldn’t take much for a determined pet to knock it over. I ended up placing it on a higher shelf out of jumping range, not because of the light or noise, but just so it wouldn’t become a toy. The zapping sound does get their attention for a second, but neither of mine has ever tried to sniff the grid or stare at the light. I’d say the bigger risk is the unit itself getting knocked around, so find a spot where your dog can’t easily reach it and you should be fine.
