TopCarPlay reconnects fine but does it ever forget your phone?

Mine forgets every couple of weeks, but it always reconnects after that manual tap.

Mine has dropped the connection a few times too, but it always shows up in the Bluetooth list. It never actually forgets the phone, just decides not to connect on its own that day. Annoying, but a manual tap fixes it quick. I would not read too much into it unless it starts happening every single drive.

Honestly I’d just leave it. Mine does that maybe once a month where I’ll get in and it just sits there looking at me until I pull out my phone and force it to remember. It’s annoying but it takes like ten seconds and then it’s fine for weeks again. I stopped trying to figure out why it happens because there’s no pattern to it. Some days it connects before I even put my seatbelt on, other days it acts like we never met.

If it’s still showing up in your Bluetooth list and all you have to do is tap it, I wouldn’t even call that forgetting. That’s just a lazy connection. I’d only start worrying if it made you go through the whole pairing process from scratch every time. That would drive me up the wall. Once in a blue moon though, I can live with it.

Mine’s done the same thing twice now. Not a full forget, just a refusal to grab the phone automatically when I get in. I always have to open Bluetooth settings and tap it, then it’s fine for another week or two. I’ve kind of accepted it as a quirk at this point.

What I noticed is that it always seems to happen when I’m in a hurry, which is probably just my luck. I’ve never had to re-pair from scratch though, the phone stays in the saved list, so it’s more like the adapter just goes to sleep and needs a nudge to wake up.

If yours is actually dropping the phone from the list entirely, that’s more annoying than what I’m dealing with. But if it’s just a manual reconnect thing, I’d say that’s pretty normal for these adapters. They’re not the most consistent little boxes, but they’re still better than plugging the cable in every time.
