I sleep with my partner and they snore pretty loud most nights. I run a white noise machine and it helps me sleep but it doesn’t stop the snoring. The scary bit is they sometimes pause or gasp before a big snore and I have no clue if that’s normal. Should we see a doctor?

Not a doctor, but those pauses and gasps would make me want it checked rather than shrugged off. I’d probably ask them to see a GP and mention possible sleep apnea so they can decide on a sleep study if needed. White noise helps you, but it won’t fix whatever’s causing the gasps.

White noise helping you sleep is a small win, but it doesn’t stop the gasps. Those pauses worry me, so yeah get a GP to listen. Could be nothing, but worth checking rather than guessing.

White noise helps but it won’t fix the root issue. Gasping or pausing isn’t normal, could be sleep apnea, so yeah get them checked. Don’t let them shrug it off.

Personally I use foam earplugs, way better than a white noise machine for masking the big snorts. If they’re gasping you should nudge them to see a doc.

Maybe try recording them sleeping for a night on your phone so you can play it to a doctor. Not totally sure, but hearing the gasps usually makes it easier to explain what’s going on.

Thanks for the replies, I think I’ll make them see a doctor since the gasps worry me. White noise helps me sleep but I’m probably crashing on the couch some nights until we sort it.
