SonaBuds vs my old earbuds for calls?

I’d say they’re totally fine for regular calls. I use mine for both and I haven’t noticed the mic being worse on a normal phone call than my older pair. The call quality is clear enough for me, so I don’t think you’d be missing out on much.

Mine handle regular calls fine, but it depends what you mean by fine. The mic is definitely tuned for picking up your voice in closer range, so on a normal call people sound clear on their end. The issue I noticed is more about the other side. The earbuds themselves are okay for hearing the person, but background noise around you comes through a bit more than I expected on calls. My old pair seemed to filter that out better.

I wouldnt say you are losing call quality exactly, but the experience is a little different. If you take calls in quiet spots, no problem. If you walk around outside or sit somewhere with noise, the person you are talking to will hear more of it than they did with your old pair. Fine for quick chats, but I keep my other earbuds around for longer calls.

I wouldn’t expect the call quality to take a big hit just because the main feature is translation. I’ve used mine for regular calls a handful of times and they sounded clear enough on both ends. I think people overthink this a bit; a mic that works for translation is still a decent mic for talking.

I wouldn’t overthink the translation focus thing. At the end of the day they’re still regular Bluetooth earbuds, and calls work like they should.

The mic isn’t going to suddenly turn into garbage because the main selling point is translation. I’ve taken plenty of regular calls on mine and nobody’s complained about hearing me. If your old pair sounds better, that’s a you thing, not a SonaBuds thing.
