I actually don’t mind the pause that much. To me it feels like the other person is just thinking before they answer, which is pretty normal in any conversation anyway. I’ve had way more awkward silences with people who speak the same language as me, honestly.

I used mine mostly at a family gathering where half my relatives don’t speak English. The little gap gave me time to actually process what was said instead of just nodding along. It made the whole thing feel less rushed, which I liked.

I get why it might feel weird at first though. The first couple days I kept wanting to fill the silence myself. After maybe a week I stopped noticing it and just let the rhythm happen. It’s more like a slightly slower conversation than a broken one, if that makes sense.

I’ve only used mine for maybe a week and a half, so I’m no expert, but the awkwardness does fade a bit once you stop trying to fill the silence.

Even in loud places mine still picks up the other person fine, so the pause never felt too long.

The pause does take some getting used to, but I found it helped once I started using the app to adjust the translation speed. Messing with that setting made the conversation flow way better for me.
