MemberMy old dash cam would stop recording if the card got full unless I manually deleted files. Does the DashOne Pro just overwrite the oldest clips automatically or do I still need to format the card now and then?

Dani MoonMemberHonestly that’s basically how most loop recording works. The DashOne Pro overwrites old files when the card fills up, same as any other cam with that feature. I think you still want to format the card every once in a while just to keep it running smooth, but you don’t have to manually delete anything. Not really a big deal either way.

emily_rParticipantI think that’s pretty much how it works, yes. The DashOne Pro will automatically overwrite the oldest clips once the card is full, so you don’t have to manually delete anything. I’ve had mine for a few months and haven’t needed to format the card yet, though I probably should do it occasionally for peace of mind.

Mike ReynoldsMemberIt’ll overwrite old files on its own, same as most loop recording cams. Just don’t cheap out on the memory card, grab a high endurance one and you should be fine.

MemberPretty much just overwrites the oldest stuff automatically, same as any loop recording cam. I do like to format my card every few months just to keep things clean, but it’s not really required.

MemberI actually found the opposite with mine. The DashOne Pro kept looping fine but I noticed some random clips would get locked for no reason and then the card would fill up anyway. I still have to manually format it every few weeks to keep it working right.

MemberThat’s pretty much how loop recording works on the DashOne Pro. It overwrites the oldest files automatically so you don’t have to worry about manually deleting stuff. I still format my card every couple of months just to keep things clean, but it’s not required.

JSmithParticipantPretty much yeah, it overwrites old clips on its own when the card fills up. I just leave mine alone and it’s been fine so far.

MemberI think it just does the loop recording thing automatically, so you shouldn’t have to mess with deleting files. I haven’t had to format mine yet, but I’m not totally sure if that’s something you still need to do now and then.

Laura ReadsMemberHonestly, I don’t think it’s a big deal. Most loop recording cams just overwrite old footage on their own, and the DashOne Pro does the same. You shouldn’t need to format it unless you run into some weird issue.

MemberOh that’s the main reason I upgraded from my old one too, I got so tired of having to check the card all the time. The DashOne Pro just loops around on its own, hasn’t been an issue for me so far.

Luis_A91MemberIt should just overwrite the oldest files on its own once the card fills up, so you don’t have to worry about deleting stuff manually. I think I’ve seen some people mention formatting every now and then to keep things clean, but I haven’t bothered with mine yet and it’s been fine.
24 de July de 2026 at 14:29 #5839
LauTopMemberI’ve only had mine a few weeks, but so far it’s just been overwriting old clips without me touching anything. Not sure if you’re supposed to format the card every now and then anyway, but I haven’t bothered yet.
24 de July de 2026 at 15:13 #5842
Maria_BakesMemberHonestly, I think people stress too much about formatting. I’ve had mine for a few months and just let it do its thing without touching the card once.
24 de July de 2026 at 15:50 #5845
Oliver BrooksMemberIt does overwrite the oldest clips on its own, so you don’t have to delete anything manually. I’ve had mine a few months and haven’t touched the card once since I put it in. That said, I still format it every couple months just to keep things clean, but it’s not really necessary.

Sam ReadsMemberMine just overwrites the old clips when the card fills up. I haven’t formatted the card once in the time I’ve had it and it’s been fine so far.

MemberIt does overwrite the oldest files automatically, so you can just let it run. I’m not totally convinced you never need to format, but I haven’t bothered with mine yet and it’s been fine.

MemberI haven’t really worried about formatting mine. It just keeps recording over the old stuff. I think people overthink it sometimes.
29 de July de 2026 at 20:08 #6079Jess Runner
MemberIt’s been overwriting fine on mine. I think people get too hung up on formatting unless you’re having issues.
29 de July de 2026 at 21:35 #6084
Mike89ParticipantI just set mine to the highest quality and let it overwrite. Haven’t touched the card since I put it in.

MemberAlright, thanks for the replies. Sounds like it takes care of itself, which is basically what I wanted to hear. I’ll just let it do its thing and stop worrying about it.
