Picked up a Clima Pest Guard for camping last week. The 14 hour battery claim seems optimistic. Got maybe 10 hours out of it before it dimmed out. Anyone else see that or did I just get a dud unit?

I think a lot of those battery claims are based on some perfect lab setting, not real use outdoors. Mine lasted closer to 11 hours before the light got noticeably weaker. Still worked fine for the night but that marketing number is definitely a stretch.

I got closer to 12 hours on mine, but that was inside the tent where it’s warmer. Cold air probably kills the battery faster.

I’ve been looking at this one for camping too, so thanks for the heads up on the battery. That difference adds up if you’re out for a few nights. Does it still work okay even when the light starts getting dimmer, or does it basically stop catching stuff?

I haven’t tested mine down to the exact minute, but I got a full evening and then some out of it before I noticed it getting dim. Probably depends on how cold it gets at night, I guess.

My 10 hour experience matches yours. Those 14 hour claims are always tested in a warm room with a fresh charge, not on a cold campsite.

I think 14 hours might be possible if you’re running it on a lower setting or something, but mine definitely didn’t hit that either. Not a huge deal for me since I usually charge it during the day anyway.

I’ve been using mine for a few weeks now and I’m getting pretty close to the 14 hours. I think it depends a lot on how often you run it on the higher setting or if you leave it outside in cooler weather.

I’ve been using mine for a few days now and it’s still going strong past the 12 hour mark. Might just depend on the batch you got.

Honestly, I’ve gotten a solid 12 hours out of mine on a few trips, but it does seem to drop off fast once it starts fading. Might just be how the battery behaves near the end. Still works fine for a full evening though.

It’s probably just the cold draining it faster. Mine lasts closer to 12 hours at home but I’d never expect the full 14 out camping.

I noticed mine lasted about 11 hours on the first charge, but after a few cycles it seems to hold a bit longer. Might just need to break the battery in a little.

I’m still on the fence about getting one, but the battery talk is helpful. Do you have to run it on the brightest setting all the time or can you dial it back to stretch the charge?

I think 10 hours is still pretty decent for camping, honestly. I usually just charge it when I’m back at the car anyway, so it’s never been a big deal for me.

Mine died after about 9 hours the first time. I just charge it daily now, no big deal for camping.

I think the 14 hour claim is probably under perfect lab conditions or something. I get closer to 11 or 12 hours out of mine, but it still works fine for a whole evening which is all I really need.

I’m curious if the brightness setting makes a big difference on battery. I haven’t picked one up yet, but I’d probably run it on a lower mode if that helps stretch it out longer.

I get around 12 hours on mine, so yours might just need a couple charge cycles to settle in. Still does the job for me though.

Alright, sounds like my unit isn’t that far off then. Good enough to know the battery life is more like a full night than a full day, which works for camping.

Appreciate the replies, I’ll just stop overthinking it.
