emily_rParticipantI picked up an Oral-B iO a few weeks ago and I’m curious about the pressure sensor feature. It’s supposed to alert you if you’re brushing too hard, but I’m not sure how reliable it is in everyday use. Has anyone here noticed it making a real difference, or is it more of a gimmick?

MemberI think it works well enough for me. It lights up red when I press too hard and I’ve definitely noticed I back off a bit. Not a game changer but it does what it says.

KhanMemberI’ve had mine for a couple months and I honestly forget the sensor is even there most of the time. It does light up red every now and then when I’m rushing, but I haven’t really changed my brushing because of it. It’s more of a nice-to-have than a game changer for me.

MemberI think it’s fine, but I kind of wish it was a bit more noticeable. I mostly just rely on the app to tell me if I’m being too rough.

Mike in TXMemberIt’s been fine for me. I notice the red light when I push too hard, but honestly I don’t think about it much. Works well enough for what it is.

MarkD87MemberHonestly I barely notice the pressure light most mornings. Usually just see it flashing red when I’m rushing through my routine, but I don’t think it’s changed how I brush much. Works fine as a reminder I guess, but I wouldn’t call it a game changer or anything.

MemberWorks fine for me. I notice the red light when I’m brushing too hard, but it’s not something I think about constantly. Does what it’s supposed to do.

HanSoloParticipantHonestly, I still think the whole pressure sensor thing is overblown by marketing. It lights up red sometimes but does it actually stop anyone from brushing like a gorilla? I doubt it.

L_ParkerMemberI can see the red light flash sometimes when I’m really going at it in the morning, but I’m not totally sure if I’m actually brushing softer because of it or just noticing it after the fact. It seems to work when it lights up, just not sure I’ve changed my habits much because of it.

Chris MillerMemberI think it works well enough for what it is. I see the red light pop up sometimes when I’m in a hurry, and it does make me ease up a bit. Not a game changer but it’s there when I need it.

Mike89ParticipantI think it does the job okay. I catch the red light sometimes when I’m half asleep and pressing too hard, and it does make me ease up a bit. Maybe not a game changer but definitely not useless.

Dani MoonMemberIt’s not a gimmick, but it’s not life-changing either. I notice the red light when I’m in a hurry and it does remind me to back off a little. Works fine for what it is.

MemberI think it’s fine, not really something to worry about. The light comes on sometimes when I’m pressing too hard, but I don’t pay it much mind. Seems to do the job.

MemberI’ve had mine for a couple months now and honestly I barely notice the red light unless I’m really leaning into it. It’s not like it bugs me or anything, but it does flash sometimes and I just back off a little. Seems fine to me, I wouldn’t call it a gimmick.

Carla82MemberI’m not totally convinced it’s that precise. I’ve had it light up when I didn’t think I was pressing hard, and other times it stays off when I’m rushing. Maybe it’s calibrated a bit loosely.

LunaMemberI’d probably just keep using it and not overthink it too much. If it helps even a little, that’s better than nothing.
