Looking at getting a drone for hiking. My main concern is size. I usually carry a 20L daypack. Anyone tried fitting one in a bag that size? Not looking for a huge setup.
Eh, I kind of doubt it. 20L is pretty small once you add water and snacks, and most drones with decent cameras aren’t that tiny. I’d say it’s a tight squeeze at best.
I think it depends on the drone. I’ve seen some pretty compact ones that would slip into a 20L no problem. Not a big deal if you pack light.
I think it depends what else you’re carrying, but honestly a 20L bag isn’t that tiny. I’ve seen people toss a compact drone in with their lunch and a jacket and still have room. Not really a big deal.
I guess it depends on how much other stuff you’re carrying. I’ve seen some foldable ones that would probably squeeze in a 20L bag if you don’t pack too much else.
I think it really depends on which drone you’re looking at. Some of the smaller ones are surprisingly compact and could probably squeeze into a 20L pack if you don’t have much else in there. I’ve seen a few friends just strap theirs to the outside of their bag with a carabiner, which seems easier than trying to Tetris everything inside. Not totally sure if that’s ideal for hiking though, since you’d want it protected from bumps.
I think it depends more on the drone than the bag size. My friend brings a small one in his 20L pack and still has room for snacks and a jacket.
I’ve seen some pretty tiny drones lately that look like they’d fit in a jacket pocket, so a 20L bag should be fine if you don’t pack too much else. I’m never sure about battery life on those small ones though, might be a tradeoff.
I’ve stuffed a small drone into a 20L pack before and it worked fine as long as I wasn’t bringing a lot of extra gear. Just check the case size before you buy, some of them are surprisingly bulky. I wouldn’t overthink it.
I’ve got a 20L pack too and my little drone fits in just fine, no problem at all. As long as you’re not trying to cram in a bunch of extra stuff, it’s totally doable. I just toss it on top of my other gear and it’s good to go.
