MemberI’m thinking about getting a travel router for an upcoming trip, mostly because logging into hotel wifi on my phone, tablet, and laptop one by one is such a hassle. But I’m not sure if the router actually solves that or if I’d still have to do the captive portal thing on each device anyway. I usually travel with just my phone and a laptop, so maybe it’s not a big deal, but the idea of setting it up once sounds nice. Does the login carry over to all devices connected to the router, or do you still have to authenticate separately? I’m a bit hazy on how that part works.

MemberI still had to poke at the captive portal on my phone after connecting through the router. It was not the magic one-login-done experience people make it sound like. The router only helps once the network itself is already authenticated.
