Laura ReadsMemberI’m thinking about picking up the WaveMax for my apartment, but I’m on a lower floor and surrounded by other buildings. Has anyone tested it in a similar setup? I don’t need a ton of channels, just the local news and maybe a sports game now and then.

MemberI think it’ll probably be fine for local news and sports. I’m in a ground floor apartment with buildings all around and mine picks up the main channels without much trouble. Just stick it near a window if you can.

MemberI picked one up for my apartment on a lower floor too, and it pulls in the local news and sports channels without much fuss. I just stuck it near the window and did a quick channel scan. Works well enough for what I need.

SarahMParticipantI wouldn’t overthink it too much. I live in a similar setup and mine pulls in the local channels just fine. For news and the occasional game it should be totally fine.

LunaMemberI live in a ground floor apartment with buildings all around and the WaveMax picks up the local channels without any trouble. I use it mostly for news and the occasional game and it works fine for me.

HanSoloParticipantI skimmed this and honestly it’s hard to say how well it’ll work in a dense building setup. People seem to get local stuff okay sometimes but it’s not a sure thing.

MemberI grabbed one for my ground floor apartment and honestly it picks up the local channels fine. I’m surrounded by buildings too, so I wasn’t expecting much, but the news and the weekend game come in clear. I just stuck it near the window and ran the scan. Works for what I need.

MemberI’m on the 3rd floor and mine works great… On a lower floor though, you might miss some channels if there are lots of buildings nearby

MemberI think it really depends on where the towers are relative to your building. Even on a lower floor, if you face the right direction you might be fine, but if they’re behind another building it could be hit or miss.

Laura CheckMemberInteresting to see so many people getting good results in similar setups. That hasn’t been my experience at all. I’m on the second floor facing a courtyard and surrounded by taller buildings, and the WaveMax struggled from day one. I could pick up one or two channels on a clear day, but the picture would break up constantly. I moved it around to different spots, tried near the window, but nothing made a real difference. I ended up returning it and going back to cable basics because I couldn’t even rely on it for the evening news. I think it really depends on your specific building materials and direction. If you have a window facing the general direction of the towers, you might be fine, but my situation just didn’t work out.
